Split Squad Games?
Minor League Camp? Minor League Evolution? An option to unretire all? A Drafted by Teams or Homegrown Past/Present QuickStart/Template/Saved Game? Futures Game? Spring Training Stadiums? Turn off Trade Deadline date because I have to change after each Preseason to next year? Bulid a Stadium that lets picks you pick what Food it has/Contract for the place? Live Play by Play? Real Insiders and so on Announcers? Rumor Mill like in Eastside Hockey Manager? Historical Guys in Ametur Draft with real guys?

Regarding stadiums, it would be nice to get say 16 different fictional stadiums with the game by default. |

For human controlled teams: a tick box for whether you or your scouting director were responsible for the draft pick....ie did the pick correspond with the recommendation....a quirky and pain in the ass feature I am sure and not for all users but it would be cool!

I predict the next version will rate each player on his likelihood of not standing for the national anthem.

Easier to schedule.
Other FA options that are not used in MLB currently but used in other major sports- franchise tag, nonguaranteed contracts w/ guaranteed bonus money, amnesty tag (NBA), max level contracts (NBA) etc |

I generally agree. However, before incorporating other sports, let's get the free agent systems that have been used in MLB's past added first. (The system has changed quite a bit over the years. Folks may find the system in use from 1976-1980 a rather intriguing one to try out.)

I think the biggest push is going to be for a World Baseball Classic.
Biggest thing that I'd use extensively: split-squad Spring Training. Right now, there's simply not enough ABs even with 6 weeks of games to determine your pitchers and bench players via that method.

Would be helpful, but ideally it would be easier to have a proper college league. Eg allowing College World Series style playoffs.

This is clearly going to annoy all the "IT'S A TEXT BASED SIM!" people but: I Just want improved 3D and humanoid icons to replace the pawns please!

An option to deactivate "player" animation in 3D view would be great. I think they look terrible in OOTP17 and only slow down match simulation.
Head-To-Head play would be great. I'm pretty sure I could convince a few friends to get the game if we could play online. Maybe we' even replace our 30+ seasons FM14 weekend game if that was possible in OOTP18

Since no one has mentioned this, I doubt it's happening in ootp 18, but I would love it if the game tracked more stats, such as team vs team all-time records, track division record for the year, show all-time ballpark records (I guess this would reset back to zero every time you went in and changed the name of the park) and have overall playoff records for your team. Also, I would love to be able to track career stats for multiple major leagues, instead of having them all lumped into one "ML level". I have two major leagues that generally compete for the same players in free agency, so it would be nice to compare their career stats from one league to the other without having to do a lot of math. Also, it would be cool if the game recognized championships that were earned in different leagues. This would mostly be useful for promotion/relegation users. For example, a team in my top league is called the Welkom Grays, and they've never won a championship in the league, but since they've won multiple championships in my second tier league, every time I get an in-game email telling me that they have missed the playoffs, it always tells me that they have won "4 ABL championships" when in reality they have none.

Seeing 3-D improve is almost a must for me in ootp 18. If you're going to offer the feature, you should have the very least care enough about the consumer to make it playable. The number of bugs have decreased drastically, but I still get tons of in- field hits that play out on screen like errors. Say a ball is decently hit to the first baseman and he is literally two inches from the bag, yet the runner beats him to the bag and it is ruled an in-field hit. Also when a ball is hit into the outfield, I want the runners on base to hold like they would in real life, instead of just taking off if its a hit, or retreating if it isn't. It takes out all of the suspense that the 3-D is supposed to offer. I don't mind the pegs so much, but if they wanted to improve the graphics and add real people, I think it would be a step in the right direction.

Just a Few Things
OOTP 17 included all of the features that I had wanted to see so it is difficult to think about what could be added to it, at least from my perspective. As someone who likes to play historical simulations, the inclusion of full minor league systems definitely made me happy. Good work to Markus and the rest of the team.
I guess one thing that I would like to see is better AI when it comes to those minor league systems. For example, I started a historical sim with the 1987 California Angels and am now in the 1988 season. Recently, in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays, they started a pitcher by the name of Kevin Kelly who I noticed was a part of their rotation. What was strange was that he was a 31st round draft pick the previous year (my draft is set for November at the end of the season) and had not pitched a single inning of minor league ball for the Jays previous to being promoted to the Majors. As a matter of fact, he did not pitch for the Jays in spring training either. His ratings, shall I say, are awful. It is difficult to imagine a 31st round draft pick being promoted straight to the big leagues; I am not sure there is a precedent for it but I guess I could be wrong. I have noticed other teams in the leagues promoting minor league players over more capable prospects in their system, especially pitchers. Many of them have four digit ERA's (10.00+) and, for some reason, they are not being sent down. Anyway, I just wanted to add my thoughts. Great work on OOTP 17 - I have had a blast playing this year's game and I am sure next year's version will be the same. I understand that it is an unrealistic request for the AI to be perfect, but I think it could reasonably be improved a bit. Last edited by hillm2ca; 10-30-2016 at 02:47 PM. |
