my predecessor was an idiot!

So, after simming 1871-1969 (and after getting an awesome custom schedule from SandMan!!!) I took over a team in my universe... and was amazed at the list of pending offers I found. The computer GM had made more than 5 and less than 10 contract offers to one star players over the age of 35, all with significant drawbacks... like a whole squad of Scott Hattebergs

and in each case I had at least one guy in the organization that was at least as good and signed at the minimum...

I was going to withdraw all the offers, but I was too lazy and it's been amusing getting the periodic emails from these guys informing me that some greater fool/other team had offered them more money. "Congratulations", my virtual self said to each of them, "I'm sure you'll have a big year in Tulsa/Fresno/Tucson, you might be just the guy to lead them out of the second division!"

Haha.... he had offered 2/$120k to Brooklyn's closer... who's 4 years older than the 28-year old closer that led the league in saves the prior year
