No manual/videos for ootp17?

When receiving the message opening the game and then try to access the manual or videos for OOTP17, the latest that show up are OOTP16. Is there not a new manual for 17?

The OOTP17 manual needs to provided with all of the new features explained. The OOTP 16 manual did not even have all of the OOTP16 features included. Some pages are still blank I the OOTP16 version.
Very poor customer to service to release a new version of a game and not provide a manual.

If I remember right, the manual was done by members of this community...and probably will need to be done again.

no OOTP 17 manual

Yes It appears that we only have the old manual (for OOTP16) with new headers is all. Not updated to reflect new game.

Because of the age of the OOTP customer-base I kind of agree with you but many games (maybe even the vast-majority) do not provide manuals anymore.

Note - This is not an anti-manual reply, just some very helpful info

1. Very few games have manuals anymore.

2. While manuals are nice for looking something up quickly, the explanations are short and precise, and quite often don't give you the help you need

3. These forums are full of helpful people and even have a newbie section. Questions get answered pretty quickly here, and the answers you get from people who've been playing the game for a while are always more helpful than a manual

4. OOTP has a lot of depth and can be a bit overwhelming at first, so please come here and ask your questions. You'll find the vast majority here are quick to help and reply to your questions. Several of us go out of our way to find and respond to questions. Even the developers are on the forum on a regular basis answering questions.

5. Customer Service is better at OOTP than any game developer I've ever seen - they really do CARE about you here.

Give us a try, we're your best OOTP resource

No manuals may be the new normal. It is also the reason I've stopped purchasing many new games. If the creator can't be bothered to document the game, why should I support them.
I work in IT and the number one rule is to document everything for the customer (manuals, videos, etc. and for future developers (technical design, flowcharts, etc.. Failure to do so rapidly results in a produce that can no longer be supported.
The end user should never be forced to guess what a feature was intended to do when a few lines of text and possible an image can explain it. That info would also cut down on the need to have everyone come to the forum for support.
While many users here are have in depth knowledge about the old version of the game, with OOTP17 being a new release, no user is the expert ath this time so I am only reviewing replies from OOTP personal.
I purchased OOTP16 last year and really enjoy it. But did tire trying to find answers to my questions in the manual to the point where I felt I was not able to use all of the features correctly. OOTP17 seems to be continuing down the same path with the lack of an updated manual. If that path continues, I won't be purchasing OOTP18.

Just wish to point out to you that all members of the Beta Team (it's not small) who have been using OOTP17 since early Jan, are also here answering questions. Every new feature gets run through the mill many times during Beta, so there are many knowledgeable people here on the forum beside the Developers.

Is there a wiki that people can update to reflect the changes in the game?

Padreman,
It is responses like yours that make me avoid forums like the plague. If you are not associated with the game and can provide a valid reply, please stay silent. My needs for the game as a customer are just as import as yours.
The only reason I'm on the forum now is because I can't get the answers from a manual, WIKI or some other official source of documentation that should have been provided with the game.

Markus,
Thanks for the reply. I look forward to using it soon. Please keep up the great work. I've only played the new version for a short time now, but I'm impressed with most of the updates. If I could understand others, I'd probably be even more impressed. As I stated, I work in IT so I understand the difficulties you are going through.

Like already mentioned you don't have to wait for the new manuals the old one has enough info to get you going anything else can be answered in the forum. If you want to wait for the new manual that's on you. But everything needed can be provided here or using the old manual
