Another commish walks!

Ya really have to appreciate great commissioners when you find them, so I hope all of you will thank your commish tonight for all his hard work over the course of your league.

The Classic MLB folded tonight for some odd reason immediately following the first year of its induction. This league started in year 1986 and was run by commissioner Don. Without so much as a goodbye or explanation for termination, Don walked and hasn't even had the decency to send an email. While I can understand that sometimes real life things come up and continuing a league becomes impossible, I cannot understand or tolerate a league folding like this. We essentially just wasted our time on this league, and for that I'm extremely disappointed.

So please owners...say thanks to your commissioners for all the hard work they put into your league. Maybe if you're lucky, they will at least say goodbye when the time has come for your league to end.

Must be a Don thing. Happened a lot a couple of years of so back with one Commish by that name, used to dump his leagues after one or two seasons and start a new one from a different historical era just for the hell of it.

Maybe we should come up with a name for this syndrome.

How about the "DonJayCorey Effect?"

How do you know the league was folded? Was the league web site taken down? I was just curious and wondering if it was an issue where maybe something happened to the guy or his Internet connection. I'm not familiar with that league.

We are probably thinking of the same Don...started at least two 80s era leagues back in the day and routinely sent out this email at some point:

"League folded. Thanks."

Don Syndrome...a fitting name for this habit.

I dont this is the same guy, only because I helped him get the league up and running, and now I feel like a dumb ass for it. If I thought I could get in touch with him now, I would attempt to get the file and password from him, and try to continue it myself. But I currently run another league, and I dont think I could run this as well, but thats not to say we couldnt find someone that could. If I can get this info, I will post it on the board here, and we can attempt to keep this league going. Especially since I won 100 games this season, lost in the one game playoff 1-0 to the eventual AL champs, I want my chance to take another crack at it....lol

I was in total shock that Don did that. Every indication I had from was that of solid charcter. I had a horrible year as the Braves but had 2 pcks in each of the first few ammy rds and looked forward to building the franchise. Some part of me still sreams for justice to be brought to Don. As Sandberg post says it I wasted countless hours on cmlb (even if my team didnt reflect it ) Neway..I just wanted to post and say if you all do somehow continue the league, please let me know @ Shockfan@msn.com Thanks!!

Now I remember this guy! I remember asking him why he would not allow people to join if they had a Yahoo email address.

His response was "My problem has been that at least 50% of the time that I send an email to a yahoo user of my league the email is returned. I have never had this happen with any other pubic email address so I just figure might as well stay away from yahoo addresses"

I get it! He was striving for reliability in his league!

I've used a Yahoo email address since I began with online leagues and have never had the issues he was suggesting are commonplace 50% of the time. I remember dismissing the league as a serious one at that point.

I suggested the "DonJayCorey Effect" cause two leagues I was in suffered a similar fate.

R2C, which had folded once and then was ressurected (by the same commish) and BABBL, which never got a game under it's belt (until YoungEagle got the original file he'd kept and I took over commish duties).

Both these leagues were run by MLBJournalist - reported his name as Jay . . . wound up calling himself Corey, but he abandoned both leagues, and never let us have the league file to keep R2C going, even after repeated attempts.

Shame too, he ran a decent league.

Maybe the lesson is simply to keep the very first file download, with the hope that it isn't yet protected by passwords for the commish stuff.

Well, speaking on his behalf in that regard, I still have issues sending out emails from AOL to Yahoo. Dont ask me why this is, but he didnt use AOL, he used a private ISP email account, and did have trouble. As far as him not bringing yahoo users into the league, I had no idea. But like I have stated to the rest of the owners in this league, I would like to try and continue it, and if we get the info from him, I'm sure we wouldnt have a prblem finding someone to take over as the commish, the only problem I see is, he didnt have the decency to inform the owners the league was ending, but the disturbing part about this is he wasn't responding to attempted contacts on AIM, when he was obviously still online under his league AIM name. Now I use different AIM sn's for different leagues, so to not confuse myself as to when I'm contacted, which is what I think he was doing as well, so unless he responds to my email, I think he will be un heard from again.

And I only hope his real name is Don Johnson, because if this league was done as a gag, he did a good job at it for an entire season. I think I want what everyone in the league wants, and thats the opportunity to continue what he put together, whether its with him or without him. Hopefully, if Don does see this post, he would have the decency to contact me,and give me this league info, and I will take care of the rest from there.

Those of you who are in Classic MLB, and didnt receive the email I sent out this evening regarding the continuation of Classic, please contact me at YanksGM1@aol.com, or on AIM at YanksGM1... I will be attempting to have the league continue... I have received the league file, and password, but I have not checked the file as of yet. And I wont have any more information until I do so.
