azl league roster question

I just got done signing my draft picks and it put in the azl.

It then gave me an error saying illegal amount of players in the azl.

So I put them in A ball.

It still didn't solve the problem and there is now nobody in the azl.

I don't understand what the game wants me to do.

Can somebody help me? I can't even play one season.

There's a setting in the MAJOR LEAGUE options screen to turn on "ghost players". The checkbox should never be set to "off" unless you know what you're doing, but is off by default in some versions of OOTP.

Markus and co, if you're reading this, turn on ghost players by default. (Also turn off league evolution by default.)
