Hall of Fame Criteria

Is there somewhere you can edit or look at the Hall of Fame Criteria for OOTP16? I thought this was listed somewhere.

Also, I noticed a check box that say "Enable Manual HOF Induction." Does this mean I can manually decided on HOF induction?

There is also a check box for "Disable Automatic HOF Induction." I assume is you check this then you have to enter it manually?

Can someone please clarify/explain?

Thanks!

umm... maybe the players section... league settings for sure.

you can affect % required, how many players the voters can have on their ballot, etc...

the same place you see the milestones, i believe.

disable automatic... will turn off the ai selecting hof'ers.

i think enabling manual allows you to edit the selections before submitting, like all-star rosters. not sure on those. google ootp 16 manual hof

not sure if it is updated for those new options. trust that over the forum.

...but what does the AI use to determine who gets in? I noticed it generally takes about 10 years of history before the AI will begin "voting" high enough for players to get in.

i don't think we are privy to this exact information. if they try to mimic rl voting, i'm sure each 'voter' is slightly random in how they weight the various metrics.

regardless, i'd wager it's based on historical voting data.

i plan on testing increasing the number of players per ballot. whatever the next 1-step up is. 10 to 15? not sure without the dropbox in front of me.

it's something i think should happen in RL. hof really isn't a main concern of mine though. it's my game, so if i think they are deserving, they are in, in my mind, and that's enough for me. each to their own

Matt has explained the "secret sauce" behind this, so to speak, to me, but he'd like to keep it private, as it falls under OOTP's intellectual property. So, yes, there is an algorithm (or two or three; I don't know) that drives this, but it's not something we're going to explain in public. Sorry.

I'll say it's mostly based on the HOF metrics a player puts up. You need to have a player actually play long enough in the league to eventually make it in. The HOF criteria listed in player profiles is generally a good way to see where players rank.

The way the buttons work is that "Enable Manual" is basically whether you get offered a ballot or not. "Disable auto" is whether the AI will also cast ballots.
Enable Manual + Disable auto = only your ballot counts
NOT enable manual + disable auto = no HOF yearly induction
enable manual + NOT disable auto = your vote combines with AI votes
NOT enable manual + NOT disable auto = only AI votes

If we vote with AI:

A typical ballot for the HOF would have very little impact, given that there are so many voters. Is this the same effect here with OOTP?

Or, do our votes weight more, say like 20%, 40% or 50%?

I'm very impressed with the HoF upgrade. As with a lot of stuff in this game I'd prefer it if it was very difficult to see under the hood.
