What Happened To Contract Offers?
I have played OOTP 14 for a long time and just got OOTP 16 from steam. I chose 1970 for the first time to play the Reds on Career Play. However, when I clicked on to a player's contract status, I could not find any option anywhere to even offer a contract. What happened to the feature? Is the Steam version different in some way? I'm not having luck on any player to offer contract as an action option. Playing as GM and Manager. Never had this problem setting up a game in OOTP 14 so I'm kind of confused. Please advise? Thanks.

i couldn't tell you if the ui is different. i'm pretty sure i've seen the option still there. regardless, there are two to four ways to offer a contract. right click the name and it should be an option. in player profile it should be there, maybe the "morale" info is blocking it (is that where it normally is?)? top right of profile page should have a drop-down with available actions. if you are in the offseason, you need to wait for FA to begin. i'm not trying to state the obvious, or treat you like a simpleton. not enough info was given, so there are many possibilities. when i encounter something like this, the culprit is usually something simple i overlooked. |

It was moved to the upper right corner of the box.
I think it says available actions.

I had started a new game, the 1990 Pirates, and the Offer Extension options are there, but not on the 1970 Reds. But I will try to make it through for FA to begin to see if that's why extensions aren't yet an option, even though on 1990 game it is an option upon game creation.

Is it because the 1970 Reds league is still using reserve clause rules? (free agency didn't appear in MLB until 1977)

WOW, good observation Cinnamon... if THAT is the reason, which may make sense, how do we resign players every year? I've never played a season before 1977 before like this one, so I'm not sure what to do to ensure my players stay and all. Any ideas and will this auto change to allowing contract extensions in 1977?

The players will be assigned contracts automatically based on performance and ratings on the first day of the offseason. You can cut a player and only be responsible for a small portion (default is 15%) of the salary based on the settings on the "financials" tab. When you reach the proper year (1976?), free agency will start automatically if you have checked "import adjusted financial settings each year" (default is on) on the historical tab.
