How to export/import players/names?

I opened the ABA quickstart out of curiosity. I don't want to play that league format, but I really liked the name list in the draft pool - much better than what OOTP normally provides when creating a game, IMO.

So, my question is - is it possible to export that name list from the ABA quickstart and import it into a created game, replacing the created draft pool name list? I tried the import/export buttons in the Functions section, but couldn't seem to get it done.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just a note to say that I'm with you. I would also like to know how to do that as I do know that there are other databases with a variety of ethnicities.
Most nights as it is I'm speaking in Spanish before the night is over.

You can adjust for whatever ethnicity mix you like in League Setup.

This doesn't work for me. I've gone to Nation Editor and zeroed everything but US, then hit re-import names & ethnicities in Global Setup and still get the same mix of hispanic, oriental and every other ethnicity.

I think you have to edit the world_default file. Delete all the name sets you don't want to appear. Maybe edit the US' line in the ethnicities file so there are less Hispanic and Asian names.

Did you change the ethnicity percentages in the U.S.?

You can do that as well.

If that doesn't work, download the All-American mod from OOTPMODS, see how it was put together, and do that for the ethnicity you want.

If you want to adjust ethnicities, then edit the ethnicities file:

It goes like this -

//language id (do NOT change), language, african (1/1000),asian,east-indian,caucasian,hispanic,
0,U.S. (Modern),400,10,10,500,80,
1,Hispanic,300,0,0,50,650,
2,Japanese,0,1000,0,0,0,
3,South Korean,0,1000,0,0,0,
4,Chinese,0,1000,0,0,0,
5,Portugese,100,0,0,200,700,
6,Dutch,40,20,10,900,30,
7,German,40,20,10,900,30,
8,French,240,20,10,700,30,
9,Italian,40,20,10,900,30,
10,Norwegian,20,10,10,950,10,
11,Finnish,20,10,10,950,10,
12,Swedish,20,10,10,950,10,
13,Russian,0,50,50,900,0,
14,Czech/Slavic,0,0,0,1000,0,
15,Polish,0,0,0,1000,0,
16,Scottish,20,10,10,950,10,
17,Arabic,300,10,100,500,90,
18,Irish,20,10,10,950,10,
19,African,1000,0,0,0,0,
20,UK,250,50,50,650,0,
21,Albanian,0,0,0,1000,0,
22,Serbian,0,0,0,1000,0,
23,Greek,0,0,0,1000,0,
24,Turkish,0,0,0,1000,0,
25,Danish,0,0,0,1000,0,
26,Armenian,0,0,0,1000,0,
27,Indian,0,0,1000,0,0,
28,Australian,0,0,0,1000,0,
29,Azerbaijan,0,0,0,1000,0,
30,Polynesian,0,0,0,1000,0,
31,Austrian,0,0,0,1000,0,
32,Canadian,100,0,0,900,0,
33,French Canadian,100,10,10,870,10,
34,Filipino,0,0,0,1000,0,
35,Romanian,0,0,0,1000,0,
36,Indonesian,0,0,1000,0,0,
37,Pakistani,0,0,1000,0,0,
38,Vietnamese,0,1000,0,0,0,
39,U.S. (Historical),25,0,0,875,100,

Numbers must total 1000 - so for example as you can see mine is edited for Canada so I get 10% African and 90% Caucasian.

Adjust accordingly to your personal preference.

Changes only effect newly created leagues, not existing ones.

So, if I'm going to create a U.S. league, I would only have to edit the U.S. line - correct?

If I'm going to create a Canadian league, would just have to edit Canadian line?

How do you open the world_default file in the OOTP folder to be able to edit it? When I open the file, it is in notepad form and the column you showed isn't available. When I open in edit, there is only the main id number and none of the following ethnicity numbers you are showing? Not sure what to do?

You're editing the wrong file. Read the first sentence in my post - you need to edit the ethnicities file. It's a txt file located in the database folder.

Yeah, I finally found that after I posted - was confused by an earlier post.

However, I still haven't had any luck. Beginning to think I must be dense.

I changed the numbers in the ethnicities for U.S. and Canada. I should only get caucasian, african american and a small number of hispanic by the numbers I set. I started a new test fictional game. Went to the Explore World and zeroed out all the numbers except U.S. Modern. Then went to Game Setup and did the re-import names and ethnicities. Finally, in the Functions section, did randomize names. The names in the draft pool are still the same lists as always - names from all over the globe from every country imaginable.

Have I done something wrong or any idea what the problem is?

What do you have player creation Nations set to in league setup?

That's probably where your problem is. Change it to all American, 100%, then delete all players in the league and fill teams with fictional players.
