I didn't like the results of 3 innings so I'm done with this game

Start first MLB league, simulating first game, Detroit vs Minnesota. Verlander has given up 8 runs with no strikeouts in 3 innings.
That is just totally wrong, what a waste of money, if that the best "simulation" this software can do, I think I am done with buying any more versions.

Verlander as you know has had his share of BAD to horrible games in real life. He has a few games to his credit where no strikeouts to perhaps one strikeout .... the most recent example of this would be the all-star game. He gave up something like 4 to 6 runs and I do not recall a strikeout. As you know some good and bad players have some career years and or a year that nothing goes right and yes Verlander had that kind of year as well where he couldnt buy a win.

Wouldnt critize the game over one simulated game. This game is really a remarkable game. I am impressed with what this game can do.

That is so wrong. Don't mind the people here who talk jibberish about 'sample size'. It's always the same thing from them.

Still, I'd just sim through Mother's Day. If, by then, he is only one game over .500 and has zero complete games in 8 starts you will know for sure that the game is a waste of money and that you are fully entitled to a refund because of the completely bogus output.

I see what you did there.

You really can't judge the game over just one start! Give it some time.

Took 5 minutes to find this box score at baseballreference August 26, 2006 Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians Play by Play and Box Score - Baseball-Reference.com.

Check out Verlander's line for Detroit..

For those that don't click the link ..

4.2 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

Looks like Ahil6 has a point. With no K's he may want to adjust his league total modifiers

More unrealistic stats..

October 24, 2012 World Series Game 1, Tigers at Giants - Baseball-Reference.com
Game one world series.. 5 ER 4 innings

September 8, 2012 Detroit Tigers at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Play by Play and Box Score - Baseball-Reference.com
6 er, 6 innings, 3 k

June 22, 2010 Detroit Tigers at New York Mets Play by Play and Box Score - Baseball-Reference.com
2 IP, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 k

Shall I go on?

There was a Verlander game last year where he gave up 12 hits and 8 earned in 5+innings (v K.C.).......

Yeah man, you should be able to take Verlander's stats from last year and divide it by the number of starts. That's what he should do every day otherwise this game is the stink. Sue everyone!

but this is a good example as to why i use ootp to play fictional leagues, you do not have to compare real life to a computer game. i remember in i think NHL 98, eric lindros had over 300 goals in one season. and i won every game with like 60 goals... its a video game.

though i did retire my fictional/historical player league. i was looking forward to getting to see players in the last 10-20 years, but i just dont have the time to continue it.

It is also a good example as to why one can use OOTP to play with real players. Only thing is the player in question has to have some understanding on how real life works

i just mean that you do not have to worry about verlander starting the season 0-1 because Zalamnov Zipnitiopshov, Sly Bargain, Stanley Bostitch, etc are not real people.
