Talent Level

I've simmed a hundred or so seasons with several leagues, using 1.000 pcm's. I've noticed a very clear drop in the offensive talent level, particularly contact and gap ratings. Given the release notes, I think it was intentional. Overall, I think I like it. There's fewer stars and a lot more average players.

A 75/80 batter used to have a minimum of 14 (out of 20) contact, now I see 9 contact (with power) batters rate that high.

On a 20 point scale, these are the changes I'm seeing (compared to a similar 13 league):

40% reduction in 12+ power
75% reduction in 12+ contact
75% reduction in 12+ gap
40% reduction in 12+ eye
25% reduction in 12+ k

As for pitchers, I see no significant change in ST, CON, or MOV.

While I haven't paid attention to the ratings drop, I've noticed that offensive stats tend to be higher than last version. I'm seeing a lot more 50+ HR and and 120+ RBI seasons. I did a test sim of one season and one guy had 89 SBs. Never seen anything close to that high before, and I'm pretty happy about it so long as it's not a common occurrence. I started a 25 year sim before I left for work that's probably finished by now. I'll type up a comprehensive post with screenshots and analysis after I get home if anyone's interested.

I'm always interested in this sort of experiment.

That was probably Billy Hamilton and it is probably accurate. He had something like 150 steals last year in the minors.

It was a fictional league actually. I don't have a problem with the 89 steals, it's just fairly unprecedented in my experiences

That is... Excessive. I actually did a 25 year test sim last version too where a guy had 76 HR and 150+ RBI. But no one else came close (2nd best for single season was like 62) so that was ok. 210 RBI though? Wow. That smashes the real life record.
