Learning jersey creation

Im working on teaching myself how to create jerseys so I can help out in the community for the new OOTP 14 release. I created me first jersey today courtesy of Knuckler's logo but when I try to plug it into the game it doesn't work. Can someone show me what Im doing wrong.

What program are you using? I downloaded Xara but have yet to install it. i sucked trying to teach myself to make uniforms with Gimp. I have tons of ideas especially for the Chicago Hitmen and would prefer to make my own vs bugging people with lives to make my jerseys.

Hey I downloaded Gimp literally this morning and am stumbling my way through it so far ha. Im like you, Im obsessed with the uniforms aspect of the game and continuously switch uniforms for my teams to add realism, but I hate bugging people to do it for me. Hopefully I can get to the point where I can make some half decent ones!

That's what got me into doing logos. Good luck and have fun. The one you posted earlier looks good.

What template are you using?

I started making jerseys by using Gern's templates and downloading Paint.net and adding a PSD add-on. Once you get the hang of it, it gets really easy.

zroberts Jersey is a jpg. dunno if thats just the way it uploaded, but don't forget that it has to be a .png in OOTP.

Sadiq, i'm flattered someone is using one of my templates.

I'd love to do the whole jersey thing and I've done a few. I'm pretty good with PSP but I've yet to figure out the whole curved text thing.

Gern, I'm currently using the old template that's been available for a couple of years (don't remember whos - not made for it but it works in PSP). Where can we get your template?

I do think that with the new modding addons and the changes to the facegen stuff getting a new tutorial to use these templates would be great!

You can check my Blog for Cap and Logo templates. I don't have an updated Jersey Template online at this time. Mine is a complete and utter mess. I've been asked to post one, but I've been slacking with OOTP stuff big time lately.

I'll keep it in the foreground of things to do tho.

Do you know if your templates will work with GIMP?

I havent used Gimp, but I believe I read that it uses Layers, so it should work.

GIMP does use layers but the templates with GIMP are kind of awkward. Totally doable but awkward.

Gambo and others, here are a couple of links for creating text on a curve using Paint Shop Pro. There are many more tutorials for PSP, GIMP, Paint.net and PS on the web and on YouTube.

Hey Gern, it actually is your template I was using, so yes it does work on Gimp. If you have any time to give an updated jersey tutorial I'm sure the whole community would appreciate it!

i would use your templates too if i had teh patience to figure out how to make jerseys. I cant get GIMP to work on my PC. Windows XP did not update to service pack 3 when i redid my PC in October and I can;t figure out how to fix it. i want to try Xara but i am lost when it comes to taking a logo or city name off of Google and putting it onto a jersey.

New jersey just put together. Once again trying to make some road/alt jerseys for the ones txranger put together in the retro jersey form. Let me know what you guys think, keep in mind this is only my 2nd day ever touching a photoshop type program.

Also does anyone have a good cap template they use. I'd like one that produces similar caps to the ones that germ and txranger put out!

it looks good overall. My only complaint is the lines that go down each side. i have some other jerseys that people have made for me that i no longer use because of that. it shows up to easily on some uniforms. it may not be too noticeable on a black uni but it is on white ones.

Can I suggest trimming around the "Baltimore" with the magic wand tool (assuming GIMP has one). The box around the text is noticeable.
