Removing the DH in QS

Question out there for someone who has done it. A couple of years into a quickstart, and in 3-4 years would like to remove the DH from the american league.
I know sounds easy to everyone. Just unclick the box. But it is not so simple.
That is because the game engine is built around particular numbers for hits, homers, walks, ect for the entire league- NL and AL, and it wants to generate those values each yeaer. so far it is generating those values based on one league with pitchers hitting and the other not
In sample tests, to just drop the DH means the AI has to go looking for hitters to get the extra hits and homers no longer coming from a 9th place AL hitter. And I am finding when previously i might have 1 50 homer guy and 1 player +.350, dropping the dh means 3-4 50 homer guys and someone hitting .390

Would you suggest I drop it gradually. Ie remove the DH for May and July for example for a couple of years to get the hit-homer distrubution a bit more widespread, then remove it
Or drop down the modifiers right away. If so, anyone done it. And what did you change the modifiers to?

Thanks to those responding
