The Mariners lost A-Rod, Randy Johnson, and finally Griffey Jr. before the 2001 season, in which they came out and one 116 games. There's no movie or hardly a mention about it now.
Then the A's took them out with their 20 game winning streak from the movie in 2002. There should be a movie about the M's too but it would point out that it was done by garnishing a star from Japan and having a 2B-man on steroids...as well as Moneyball. It was Moneyball +2, but done one year earlier. Still, it was 116 games. Before going on a huge losing streak for the next decade. Now both teams suck. In the end, you do it with big $, or prospects gained after sucking for many years because you're paying A-Rod too much when you're not the Yankees. |

I think the Baseball movie that hasn't been made that I'd most like to watch is about the early 1970s A's. You got Charley Finley, Reggie, Catfish, Vida Blue, Rollie, and lots and lots of facial hair.

Every season looks like this: 1) We load up on as many utility outfielders as we can. Guys that can hit around .255 with 7 dongs. 2) We have a really good, young team that can do damage. 3) A starting infielder is hurt for a significant amount of time during spring training 4) We start out something like 15-30 5) We win 30 games in a row to bring us close to playoff contention. 6) We lose a bunch of 2-1 games with the help of our superior pitching and downright awful offense. We fall out of contention. 7) Better luck next year. We have a great team, but they're young and inexperienced, but they will do damage in the future. 8) Rinse and repeat every year. Billy Beaner love em fragile players. I'm going to thoroughly enjoy watching this team lose this year.

Last night I had a dream that the A's signed Aaron Miles.
The question is what is more pathetic: Me dreaming about an A's free agent signing, or the fact that even in my dreams the A's can't get someone proven on the team.

What a random thing to dream.
Your subconscious must've remembered that the A's really did have Miles at one point but flipped him for Adam Rosales before he ever played a game as an A. |

I'm all for this.
Miguel Tejada lobbies Oakland Athletics to take a chance on him - ESPN As long as it's the minor league deal Tejada says he'd sign.

Miggy coming back would be good for nostalgia. If it happens I hope Coco gives up #4 for him.

Marcos Breton: Sacramento lingers as possible Plan B for A's - Marcos Breton - The Sacramento Bee
still hope for the sacramento A's and if the deal for an arena for the kings is approved Sac can become a more viable option

Posting here again just so an AL West thread will be more visible than the token AL East threads.
Love you A's fans! Much respect. |

Yay! Baseball!
I'm looking forward to Monday afternoon, the first A's spring training game that will be shown on MLB.tv. |

I should not be letting this article piss me off since it's just speculation and cites no sources. But I can't help it. I'm pissed.

I'll say this. If the A's are ever contracted I may never watch another baseball game again. To contract one of the oldest franchises in baseball history would be an atrocity. Heck the Kings just got a new arena in Sacramento. I'm sure it could support the Athletics also.
On a bright note. Brandon Allen is crushing today and hopefully will give us the 1B presence we've been missing since Giambi put on pinstripes.

Yeah, I was talking about that to my husband last night. I said if the A's were contracted, I don't know what I'd do. It'd be like my sibling died.
That is probably way extreme though. I don't see MLB going for contraction, ever. Wolff will sell the team, and they'll move them to freaking P. Rico before they contract them. |

Can't imagine the union would ever let that happen either.
