OOTP 4 Game won't open, please help!!

When I open the game up, the loading league bar comes up and the bar's blue line is already all the way across just as if it automatically loaded. Then an error message comes up saying that the game must be closed. Here is what the message looks like:

My system is a Pentium III 500 Mhz with Windows 98.

Please reply if you have any information on how to fix this or who I can contact to fix this major problem.

You either:

-Don't have Direct X 7 or newer installed on your system.

OR

-Have not updated your video drivers in awhile.

How do I get both updated??

I was able to play the game yesterday, I have had it since the day it came out, so I think it might be the video card.

Have you deleted any leagues, etc since you were able to play it last?

No. I deleted the box scores and the game logs shortly after the problem occurred, but nothing else. The game will open now, but it freezes before I can do anything.

Did you delete the BOX folder?

If so you need to recreate the folder named BOX, or else the game will choke.

When you delete the box scores and game logs just delete the files inside the folder, rather than the entire folder.
