Minor-League Rehab assignments
Hey wonderful OOTP community,
Markus mentioned that you could assign players on the DL to minor-league rehab assignments, but I have yet to find where you can do that. Does anyone know? Spanks! |

Right click on the player in the transaction screen, go down to his transaction tab, and select "assign rehab assignment"

Can anybody explain how rehab assignments work? I have a player who has no more DL time left, but they are injured for 10 more months. However, I am able to send that player to rehab. If they are still really injured, what exactly would they do in the rehab? I would assume if they are still injured they wouldn't be playing in minor league games, would they?

I tried to assign Scott Brow from my 1993 Blue Jays to the minors directly from the DL and the game kept insisting that I can give him a rehab stint. I got one of those boxes that said "INFORMATION" at the top and the advice about the rehab stint. I finally just gave him a rehab stint to move him off the DL. Lots of little niggling bugs like that that I am sure will be quashed

Thanks, that is what I thought. Seems like there should be a check to see if player's injury is healed enough to start rehab before allowing them to go on rehab, regardless if even their DL time is up.

So I went ahead and tried this with a player that had 2 weeks of injury left but DL time was up. Assigned him to rehab. While in the minors, he didn't pitch so that part seems right, at least an injured player wasn't playing. However, the rehab time still continued to count down, even though the player wasn't technically rehabbing. Not sure if this could turn into a cheat by placing a player on rehab 30 days ahead of them actually being able to play and that way they might receive all the benefits of rehab without actually playing.

This suggestion has just been logged into the system. Hopefully we can get a fix for the upcoming patch.

I haven't seen the AI send players on rehab assignments. However, for human-controlled teams that are set to allow the AI to handle roster moves or for whom the AI is asked to set up the complete organization, players will be sent on rehab assignments.

Someone mentioned before there should be an indictor (or failing that, at least some place on the player page where it can be seen) regarding a players "rust". I love the concept and think it's well founded, but without knowing how much rust a player actually has (the whole point of the minor league rehab) it's irritating not knowing how long he has to stay down there.

The issue of being able to send players on rehab assignments while they still have injury time left has been reported as resolved for the upcoming patch.
