First compare OOTP 12 default settings to real life. They just might be last years totals or perhaps an average over the last 3-5 years(?). If they're not what you want then yeah, go to baseball reference.com and get 'em there. The only thing you have to do is total Al and NL together since league totals in OOTP are a total of both leagues.

I'm importing my current league, I guess those will come over? If so, would I want to use this feature?

Thanks!

Yeah, wasn't thinking to clearly there. If you import a league the settings come with it. So, if you want to match last years real life output you'll need to go to baseball reference or some other site to get those totals.

Yes, I would use the new "auto calc league modifiers". There always seems to be little tweaks in the engine that will throw your stats off a bit. I've imported every year from v4 to v11 and have always done a manual test run, followed by modifier adjustment, and then a test league to check output. One time through usually does it and this new feature actually sims 3 seasons so I would think it should be pretty accurate.

One Pitch

No it does not-go to one pitch while watching game--no matter what you check---now you must hit a key or mouse click in order to have a one pitch sequence

Thanks, what do you usually use for your statistical model?

Most of mine go back to OOTP 4 except I lowered home runs with the steroid era coming to an end. FWIW here is what I use..

AB 167,353
H... 44,522 (.266 target for league batting avg)
2b.. 8919
3b.. 895
HR.. 5120
BB...16,222
HBP.. 1850
K....31,828

This is basically OOTP 4 default League Totals with HRs lowered to 11.5% of hits. I got the 11.5% figure, IIRC, from averaging the last 2 or maybe 3 years real life stats. Not sure how that .266 batting avg compared to the last 2-3 years. You'd have to check to see if you think it needs to be changed. I'm happy with it in my league.

Double Plays...3817 (1.57 per game)
Wild Pitch.. 1458 (.600 p\g)
Balk.... 146 (.060 p\g)
SB Attempts... 3839 (1.58 pg)
SB success %.. .734

These stats I pulled from baseballreference.com last year to tweak v11. Can't remember if I just took 2009 stats or if I averaged over 2 or 3 years. Keep in mind, unless v 12 has changed, you can't just enter these figures like the ones above. To get them fine tuned you would have to run a test season, figure how far off the target you are, and change the modifier accordingly. I'm hoping with the new "auto-calc feature" we can just input these figures too and let OOTP sort it out.

Thanks Sweed.. I'm just going to stay with what I'm using for now, which is default MLB quickstart settings and tweak from there.

or wait to hear from you..

Got an idea that might be easier to implement and (maybe?) could let you add the above in a patch???

Would it be possible to add a "link" to the BNN Home Page in the Almanac that would recreate the new League newspaper in html form? This way each years stories would be categorized into each years Almanac - and once in HTML, the 3rd party folks could embellish this into a full fledged newspaper!
