2011 Boston Red Sox Thread

I see it hasn't been started (but then neither has the W column)

According to the stats only two teams have ever started 0-5 and reached the playoffs*

But surely losing 5 in a row at the start is better than losing 5 in a row late September and I'm sure hundreds of playoff teams had L5 streaks during the season.

* but of course no team had ever been 3-0 down in a best-of-7 and behind with 3 outs left and then won the series!!

Still as likely for us to have a 157-5 season as it is a 0-162 one!!

Yes, painful to watch. That's what happens when 95% of the team plays below their ability. It's just magnified because it happened at the start of the season. Oh well.

It's a nightmare (actually, a morningmare to me ) to see guys playing like this at the start of the season.
Hope Lester can start something tomorrow by pitching like himself...

Hey umps... read your rule book (specifically 6.06(a) ) and then look at Cabrera's left foot during that squeeze play - I wasn't aware of the batter's box stretching round behind home plate before!!

On the bright side, this sort of thing can get you on the cover of SI.

I love the title of today's post at Surviving Grady blog.
"Blame Lugo"

Seriously though, this is the worst time to face the Yankees at home.

I'm pretty sure getting swept by the Indians HAS to be the low point of the season. It can only go up from here.

P.S. Thanks for making our pitchers look good k thx bye

And so it begins... Reyes designated for assignment, Albers on the DL, Doubront activated, Aceves recalled. Sounds like the magic spark this team needed!

I like the Sawx lineup better today:

Crawford
Pedroia
Gonzalez
The Romanian/Jewish God of Walks
Ortiz
et al...

Good move by Francona.

Woohoo... that's what we need, a game against an easier opposition!

156-6 is still a possibility

It figures, your first W is against us. You're lucky we're playing you for the first time this season on April 8 instead of April 28!
