Yeah. Some come out pretty brutal on the 1st try.

Also, a progress report for everybody.

If you haven't gone over to the board we are making some pretty good progress.

As of right now about 5% of the 17k+ players are either done or being worked on. That is with a handful of contributors. Many famous players and Hall of Famers are still up for grabs.

We still need some guys to help out so if your interested or sitting on the fence let us know.

If your curious as to how difficult this is and whether you want to try it out? This is all you need to know how to do. You would think something like this may be over whealming but it isn't

1) Can you move 9 green plus signs on a players face?
2) Can you sit around for 2-5 minutes and wait for a result?

If you answered yes to both of these, you have all the skills you need.

It's really easy to do... If I can everybody can.
It's a little more works for the black and white picture, but you get use to it fast (it's just 4 sliders to play with).

I do it while I'm doing homework for my college classes.

You do NOT want to see my Julian Tavarez. His mother would be horrified to see what I did to his face.

Anyway, today I did register at the forum [both times]. We will see. It sounds like a fantastic project. Some of the results I've seen are just incredibly amazingly good. Somebody said this will be 50,000X better than photopacks.

the only trouble i have is with guys wearing their caps low. So sometimes it leaves a mark on the fg image.

I'm looking through one particular photopack and I noticed that almost everybody is smiling. Doesn't this create problems?

Also, how do you find a picture of a player at age 28? The photos of the player seem to be from no particular point in their careers. They may have played in 1995, but their photo is from 2002, or 2005, etc.

Just fiddling around with some 1995 photos, I created a great Facegen of Andy Pettitte.

Yeah, occassionally you'll get something funny like that. Just do the best you can. It looks better in game then you might think.

Smiles make it very interesting. I've learned to position the mouth point a bit south of the mouth corners. The idea, for me, being to have the teeth end up evenly across the mouth - split by the lips. That way when I recolor (make paler then dark redder) the lips it does it equally.

As for the age, I'm having a hard time too. Its not easy finding someone around age 28. What I've done so far is dl the photopacks from PadresFan's site and find the pic as close to the year gambo posted. It seems to have well so far.

I've tried placing the mouth points a bit lower, with less-than-good results. It seems like almost everybody I'm interested in doing is smiling in every picture. But I guess I would smile too if I was a major league ballplayer.

So far I've downloaded a 1990s photopack as well as a 2000s photopack from the Padresfan site. Almost everybody is smiling, however.

The official MLB site is no help for photos of players other than those from this season.

Yeah, its trial and error. Mostly error. I fiddle with the lip color a lot and just try to make it the best I can. Beyond that I don't know what to say. I've done 200+ of these and I'm still figuring it out.

The smiling picture thing can be a little bit annoying. I use every source i can such as google and ebay and have a pretty extensive collection of every photo pack that been released for OOTP to choose from.

As for the age thing. We are not looking for you to use a source that is exactly them at 28 but rather to get an image of the player from approximately that point in his career give or take a couple of years. Basically we have created a standard for the facegen source image.

We dont want a FG pack that has one group of guys at 20 years old and another at 40 years old.

Just a little bit of work and the smile disapear. Personally I use the "Mouth - lips thin/thick" sliders in the shape menu or the "Detail texture modulation" sliders to remove it. This is one of the Eddie Matthews picture I work on for an HOF facepack actually.

Usually I choose 4 or 5 different pictures to work on by player before I decide wich one I will send for the project. So this isn't necessary the one I will choose, but since it had a smile I use it as an exemple.
