Why is Stickware schedule wiping out player file?

After getting OOTP5, I imported my league from OOTP4 after the World Series but before proceeding to the next season. I did all the offseason stuff through Spring Training. Then I used the Stickware schedule to generate a new schedule. But then when reopening OOTP5 I get the "invalid player file". So I reimported and did everything up to that point again and backed up so I could experiment - try something, then the same problem occurs so I make a new copy from the backup and try again. I upgraded from Stickware 4.0 to 4.1, and that didn't help. I found a post saying to generate a schedule in the game first. Did that but still got the same problem. I noticed posts with people saying Stickware worked fine for them (as it did for me in OOTP4), but there were mentions of people having problems with it. Can anyone help me out or at least explain this for me? Thanks.

I've successfully used the schedule.dat file from stickware , but I don't let it touch my league folder. I just copy the schedule.dat and league.dat file into a separate stcikware folder, create the new schedule, and then copy only schedule.dat back into my OOTP folder. Then I set the day the year starts on, and the all-star game date.

I think there may be differences in the league.dat format that cause problems if you let Stickware (written for V4) write to your OOTP5 league folder.

Thanks a bunch BleacherBum. As you suggested, I made another folder with the league, schedule, and Teams dat files, generated the schedule from that folder, and it appears to work fine.
