Why Does My Farm System Suck?

I'm having more difficulty with this version that I did with my previous version (8) when it comes to building a farm system. In the most recent draft, I traded to get 7 1st round picks including the #1 overall, and yet when I look at the top minor league systems, I'm still rated at a 0.

I have scouting and coaching both turned off. I only draft players with a good work ethic and the best potential I can find. Playing version 8 I would have the top system in the league if I stooped to trading for 1st round picks. (something I don't over-do as it's so easy to get away with, but I really wanted to see if I could build my farm system.)

Any suggestions?

It may be because you have the Top Prospects list set at 'Yearly' instead of 'Dynamic'. If you have it set to dynamic it will take a few weeks or months before your newly drafted players are far enough along in their development to be considered for the top 100 list. I have mine set to dynamic and it can take as much as a year before my top draft picks make an appearance on that list.

hope this helps

Wait a little bit, maybe 12 months, then see what they say.

How is what he is doing considered cheating? Unless he was doing an MLB replay? Draft pick trading is a MLB rule..it need not apply to fictional universes. If he had altered the trade settings to get him the picks then that would be cheating.

It would be kind of cheating if I wasn't trying to figure out this new system. It is way to easy to grab a #1 pick from the AI, and when I get into the game, I don't make a big habbit of it. However, I'm 4 years in and my farm system still sucks.

Has player development changed that much since version 8? Or the scouting when scouting is turned off? Does a players work ethic still count as much as it once did?

It is under Game Setup, and the General Tab, about halfway down under 'Report Options' it says 'Top Prospects List' and you can set it to Annually or Dynamic.

It may also be where in your system your best prospects are. I don't know if this changed in X but it used to be that the prospects were ranked at both their potential and the level they were at. If all of those first rounders don't fall apart by the time they get to AAA you should have a great rated system.
