Tim Lincecum

fastest pitcher to 500 K's since 1900...pretty nice if I say so myself. Im thinking this is just the begining of an amazing carrer, I see 10 more cy youngs and 30,000 more K's.

Oh and Randy Johnson goes for 300 tonight, he deserves it and I hope he finally get thats baby!

Big Timmy doing it again, last year I made a post and predicted he would win the Cy Young and this year ill do the same. Even though he will have some competition from Matt Cain I think Timmy will take it home again. Just an amazing young pitcher and really fun to watch.

Pablo Sandoval is another young Giant who is fun to watch a long with a few other youngins, this year I expected them to be over .500 but now it looks as though wild card contention is in there future. Hopefully they dont make any ridicouls trades and deal there good spects unless it is for that BIG bat that we need.

It's gonna be sad when Lincecum's arm falls off because of the abuse he gets from his team.

Wow, imagine if the Giants were stupid enough to trade him to the Jays for Rios!

Good for Tim because if he were drafted by Cleveland he would have sucked. Some way, some how, something bad would have happened to him.

He'll have a great run for a handful of years, but he's such a small guy that I don't see his arm lasting for anything like 10+ years.

Pedro Martinez 2.0

He will be lights the hell out for a while and then all of a sudden he'll be out of the league before anyone can blink.

It would surely be a shame if he is limited to the sorry excuse for a career that Pedro had.

No faith in his customized mechanics? I think the assumption/fear that he's doomed is premature.

I agree that the Giants use him very poorly. That don't manage his pitch counts as well as they should and they don't skip him often because they just can't, and win that is. They need to add one more solid non-injury prone (yes I am looking at you Unit) pitcher.

The Giants will start to fall out of contention yet again this year after the All Star break and they will probably end up dealing him somewhere since the number of teams that need pitching means that the sellers will be getting super premium players and the Giants are in the market to stockpile spects.

He has two more years until he's arbitration eligible, and the Giants aren't exactly a small market team. So why would they trade him?

As for the pitch count thing, he's throwing 107 per start this season, which is down from last season. That doesn't seem like abuse to me. And I'm not exactly sure why you'd want him to be skipping starts.

Reading comprehension not your strong suit?

Where did I ever say there would be anything wrong with that? Pedro's peak is among the greatest runs a pitcher has ever had.

The point was that he's not going to be Johnson, Clemens, or Schilling and pitch at a high level into his mid to late 30's.

Well, surely it's harder for him to be another Clemens, due to the harsher drug tests.

It's also impossible for him to be a Johnson, since he already pitched too well too young comparing to Johnson, who didn't get to pitch at the equivalent of Lincecum's current level until older than 30.

I don't know why Schilling is in the discussion, since Schilling never had a season as good as Lincecum's.

I don't think we are really capable of predicting the length of careers anyway. Lincecum might just hurt and never pitch again after next start. Who knows?

Either way, if he gets hurt, people will contribute it to his pitching motion when we wouldn't know for sure if that's the actual reason.

I honestly think that his motion will save his arm because he's putting more strain on other parts of his body which are more capable of surviving over several years of stress.

If anything, I think it's his legs or back that goes first.

This prompted me to look at Pedro Martinez's numbers.

THIS dude is a Hall of Famer. Channel Sandy Koufax, but with 50 more wins, and a better WHIP, 1.10 to 1.05, pitching in a hitter's era with the DH.

Pedro's 2000 season is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest season in baseball history. 217 innings pitched, 128 hits, and 32 walks. WHIP of 0.73. Jesus.

Somebody couldn't find evidence that tall pitchers last longer than short ones:
