Is 9.2.13 Stable and Dependable?

I perused Markus' thread about releasing 9.2.13, but didn't see any evaluation of it.

Has it proven to be stable and dependable with no major flaws?

I don't know if its related

Ever since I installed the patch, I have not been able to load my leagues (unable to find certain dat files/league currupt). Just by looking at the posts in the Tech Support folders it appears that the issue has impacted a couple of online gamers as well. I don't know how common the issue is, I just know that I regret installing the patch and that I may not be able to recover a league that I've spent about 40 hrs on.

Sorry to hear about your league.

I lost a league due to hard drive failure one time and didn't have a backup.

I learned my lesson. I now backup almost every day. It saved my league that I have put two years' work on. I crashed with 9.2.12 yesterday, but saved it with a backup. The face file was corrupted. It was an easy fix with the backup. That is the second time 9.2.13 crashed on me.

I use an external storage disc for backup. It cost about $130. It has been well worth money.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I'll wait awhile until the reports are good for 9.2.13.

I find 9.2.13 to be very smooth and stable, but I'm not sure whether it's the patch itself or the removal of Windows Indexing on OOTP folders and excluding them from Symantec A-V monitoring. Or everything combined. One thing is for sure: The periodic crash that I was experiencing while in the substitutions screen has not occurred in a long time.

I also have had nary a problem with 9.2.13 actually,I haven't had anything go wrong since that pesky pitcher injury bug from last year(that was hunted down and fixed by Markus)so from my end the game has been quite stable for a while now.(knocks on wood)

I am on Mac, and so far, there is no problem at all.

Same for me. I haven't had any problems with OOTP 9 in terms of non AI related issues.

Good. I'm glad to hear the vast majority of you are not having problems.

Thanks to all of you for posting and helping me make a decision on using the last patch.

Did this patch address the draft pick compensation issues?
I was holding off as i thought another was coming.

I'll have to re-read the 9.2.13 thread to see if all is well in that respect. There was a lot of debate on the draft issue.

I believe in credit when it's due, just as in criticism when that's due.

In this case, it's credit. Still no crashes, very smooth operation, with this last patch. No significant and nagging flaws left over either (admittedly, this last opinion is open to debate from others, I'm sure).

Since you asked the original question, do you agree with me at this point, Eugene?

Being a commissioner of 2 online leagues, if you have a problem with one of them you have to entirely delete the league from your hard drive and download a fresh copy of the file.

I have just finished expanding my league to 64 teams and setting pitching rotations and depth charts. I downloaded the latest version today. I will let you know how things go in a week of so.

So far, all is well with 9.2.13 version.

I am getting ready to play some games in a day or so. I have just about completed all of the preseason work with new pitching rotations and depth charts.

This is a recurring problem that first surfaced in V2007.

While working in the depth charts the game crashes and I lose everything I have done since last closing out the game. It usually happens while dropping and dragging.

It still does it in OOTP9. Also there is something new happening. Whenever I make a lot of changes in the player ratings, I get a message that OOTP.exe is closing out the game and I lose whatever I have done since last closing out the game.

As a precaution, I usually work on one team at a time, then close out the game and save the data entry info.

But occasionally I forget to close the game after working 3-4 hours and I get that darn message and have to redo all of the ratings changes.

What prompted this post was I just lost 6 hours work and will have to do all of that tedious stuff again.

I know.
I'm stupid.

Anyone have this happen to them?

That really sucks.

I'm in the habit of saving after everything I do. Sim a day, save the game. Make a roster change, save the game. Import a couple of team exports off the server, save the game.

That is wisdom. But also, every single day, back up your league files. Do it to zip files, do it to a USB thumb drive, do it to online storage, do it to CD/DVD, do it to a networked hard drive, but do it.

If you don't do this the day will come when you will regret not having done so.
