One Pitch Mode vs Pitch-By-Pitch Mode?

Does the community have a preference?

I have a league that I started in 1901 and simmed through 1973 and am now playing the 1974 Giants. Is the gameplay much different on pitch-by-pitch? Just curious..

Due to lack of time, I use one pitch.

I also generally use one pitch mode due to time constraints but I'm glad the pitch by pitch option is there. I'll sometimes use that feature late in a tight game or during the playoffs.

I use pitch-by-pitch late...for serious managing...otherwise, I'll do one-pitch, or even sim innings...

i prefer one pitch mode, watching as the computer plays the game out.

BTW, has the minor glitch from 00tp 8 and 7 been fixed, where it was not possible to let the computer play itself out in one pitch mode without having to press the f1 key or space bar all of the time. One pitch mode did not work in this situation. (see logged issue 2981 - One Pitch Mode)

When I do play out games (which is only if my team makes the playoffs), I use one pitch mode, only because of the time involved with a pitch by pitch. Really the only thing that I can think of that its not good for is the batters "take a pitch" option (or is always taking a pitch on an 0-0 count ?), and to a lesser extent stealing (not sure of the count before taking off)

One-pitch mode...it is much faster.

I play only the last three innings of every game in my league. I control both teams. That way I can make 95% of the substitutions myself and avoid the AI's unwise moves.

One pitch, although I sometmes switch to poitch-by-pitch when there's a hit and run or a steal to be excuted. I don't like the send forced option all that much.

I use a combo. For the majority of at bats I simply hit "ENTER" and get the at bat in one pitch.

However if I am in a critical situation, or want a bunt or steal I will use pitch by pitch. I find that happens maybe 5-8 at bats a game and I like the ability to be able to have the drama and realism of pitch by pitch.

and I was very much always a one-pitch guy until this combo approach became available.

That's pretty much how I do it. I've always played out all my games. The pitch by pitch lends itself to some great drama in tight situations, especially when the game's on the line. Nothing like a pitch by pitch at bat in the bottom of the ninth, 1 run up with a man on third and two outs. Punching the air when that third strike goes in.

One pitch mode, until I'm in the playoffs. I play out ALL of my games, innings 1-9, and with one pitch mode it takes less than 10 minutes. I've done 8 in an hour. But in the playoffs I'll do pitch-by-pitch. Of course, I've never been to the playoffs, so;

One pitch mode, exclusively.

I will let game sim for 5 innings then i will go one pitch. Sometimes if i feel lazy i will just SIM one inning at a time. However at times i will go one inning at a time if i get concerned about a pitcher with his endurance or if pitcher is always shaky.
I like being able to get as many games as i can in each day.

I play one pitch until someone gets on base or until I'm concerned about starter fatigue and sometimes on the last out of a game, especially a win, just to savor the moment. If a pitcher has a no-hitter or shutout, I'll also switch to pitch-by-pitch.

I really love having the option to switch during the play!

Like most I one-pitch unless playoff or important game is at hand.

What i like about playing all-pitch is if i find an opposing picher with low K/BB ratio i'll have my hitters take pitch till strike is thrown. If at the start of a series you can destroy the opposing bullpen early and possibly sweep them due to dead bullpen from using a simple take pitch approach.

When i'm batting, I do pitch by pitch
When i'm pitching, I do one pitch

It just feels more natural to me for some reason

It depends on the situation. For the most part I use one pitch mode. If its a situation I want to micromanage then I will use pitch by pitch.

Thanks.

I sim most games to the eighth inning, and if the game is close, one pitch till the end. I used to play DMB, never used the pitch by pitch, too slow.
