Yeah! Another thing to blame Bush for!

I actually liked that feature, but I don't miss it that much. It just gave me something else to do besides stare at fake players and numbers all day

This is not the first I have heard of this revelation

Looks good Markus. Good luck.

I think the AI improvements is more than I could have asked for. The game has enough bells and whistles already, getting what it has correct is the main thing I want.

***Please look into the Wild pitches and passed balls in games that are being managed. It still seems high to me, MUCH better than OOTP2006 however.***

***The computer manager doesnt do a very good job late in games with right/right, lefty/lefty matchups and in the more modern settings leaves the starting pitchers in way too long.***

***Try and keep the computer from changing lineups so often(It seems strange to me when I see Travis Hafner batting 4th one game and 1st the next)***(Perhaps when having the AI decide lineups use OBP plus speed in the leadoff spot but deduct from anyone without average speed). Also the 3rd hitter on most teams doesnt usually bat anywhere else in the order vs lefty or righty UNLESS they are in a major slump. The 4th hitters are generally the same with a few exceptions.

And now the usual OOTP dilemma....whether to start a new season or wait for the new version. I've just begun the off season in my solo league but having converted from 2006 to 2007, and 2007 to 2008 mid-season and finding problems on each occasion (not game breakers but mildly annoying issues with weather, losing AI managers records etc) I think I'll have to summon the patience to crawl through the OOTP winter so that Spring Training coincides with 2009.

Any hope?
I hope so, but I did come up with how this could be done but was told to hold off putting my document into suggestions as it was unlikely that any major overhauls of the database structure were going to take place.

90% of what jb posts is cut and paste. A parrot doesn't really know, nor does he have to comprehend what he is saying, he just says it

I've been playing around with this idea this afternoon, and have got so tantalisingly close to getting it to work in 8/2007...

I created four leagues (one each in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and then a fifth league (the Home Nations Championship) which after starting the game I emptied of all teams and created four divisions in one sub-league (oddly enough called England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).

I butchered a schedule from a 2x2x4 league to make a schedule that would allow inter-league matches between the four country leagues, and using my editor imported it back into the game.

I then tweaked world.dat so that the fifth league thought that it had the 16 national teams in it.

I had to take out all the draft things from the overall league and managed to sim through to the end of the season.

And on the whole it worked -

here is the end of season English division

and Scotland

and the Home Nations

Unfortunately it crashed when going into the playoffs, but I might not have got the settings right for that, I'll do some more digging to see if it works. Also I can't micro-manage a game (don't know why that doesn't work)

On the plus side, the teams only drafted in their own league and so the English league was mainly English, the Scottish one mainly Scottish, etc...

But it seems to me that the only thing that really stands between the current version and this working properly is the over reliance on things like league id across the various database files. But this is probably something that can be looked at for OOTP10 as there will be a longer development cycle for that...

Anyway, that was completely off-topic...

Sorry to say Mr Heinsohn, but WWSM like Football Manager does pay for licenses in many leagues as well as a Fifpro license

This seems ot be a VERY popular feature request so I'm hoping it makes it in. managing my companion international league in this setup is a nightmare.

Here Here. My wife bought me All-Star Baseball 2005 for X-Box and I played that for about 4-5 months and have picked it up maybe three times since. If my OOTP games were old vinal records, I'd have worn holes in them from playing them so much. OOTP 2007/8 especially.

I have to say, as much enjoyment as I get out of OOTP (almost exclusively via 3 online leagues, 2 as Commissioner), this announcement doesn't get me very excited. Certainly not until I see what exactly "nifty stuff for online leagues" actually means.

When "in game sound" is the first listed feature, I'm not exactly holding my breath.

+1

I'm not sure why listing "a new skin" would be seen as important enough to list by itself, while online players (again) get nothing but "some nifty stuff" that is yet unnamed.

I guess I'm just a little worried that online players will be, yet again, the redheaded stepchild of the OOTP world.
