I will admit that I'd rather see limited graphics on the order of Puresim than sound. The game already creates ball locations; why not use those to graph out the play results?

Also, editable faces!!! Include that info in the import/export stuffs and I will create a wonderful program beyond anybody's wildest dreams!

1) I may not understand completely, but this is already in the game. Tons of tweaks & AI improvement.


Please give us more detail on that.

Every patch or update or new version you always say that.

But the AI is very weak and the same bugs carry over from one version to the next.

Like AI finances, online waiver claims, player releases, free cuts in the off season, broken compensation, coaches/scouts, trades, etc.

I hope this version finally fixes all the AI problems that been in the game from many version now.


MLB Rosters

Its never going to be any good until you let us enter the stats of players to produce the player rating.

Until that can be done by inputing stats instead of ratings I don't think it will get any better. You have to "guess" for a lack of a better term to find the proper ratings mix to make players as you want them to be.

That is going to make it difficult for roster makers.

jbmagic, exactly which AI improvements should be made? It's not that I think that the AI is perfect, it's that I think you have no idea what you are talking about.

In real life, a player will often practice at his new position between games before getting into a real game. It would be nice if OOTP allowed players to work on certain skills between games.

The crux of the issue is that players don't have enough bleed-over skill between the infield and the outfield. You can play a career SS with no rating at 2B and he'll do pretty well, actually. Yes, his rating will look poor for a while but really he won't commit that many errors and within a month or two he'll be just as good as he was at short if not better. It's very, very rare to see guys go the other way around though. Third base is a special case, as you can put a guy with a good Hands and Arm rating there and he'll do well but no amount of training is going to make an iron-handed natural 2B into a 3B.

There is the problem that you can't easily convert a 2B into a LF a la Juan Samuel (at least not without Thrift Training!!!!). Perhaps that will be fixed. We shall see.

As for being able to key stats in, I'd probably take a wait and see attitude there as well. That's not exactly the kind of thing Markus is going to mention as a major feature upgrade. In fact, doing so might sound like damning his own game with faint praise. "OMG PPLZ U SEE HOW U CAN ALREADY IMPORT SEASONS PLAYERS & YEARS FROM LAHMAN!!!! NOW U CAN TYPE THEM IN TOOOOO!!!!!" I'm not saying this wouldn't be nice, it just... lacks a strong reason to be there for most players. That being said, it's also probably not all that hard to add - the biggest issue I see is finding a place on the Edit screen for it - so yeah, wait and see.

Finally, as for the statty stuff, one of the best aspects of the game last year was that Ronco did beta testing. You would not believe the work he did getting hitting properly modelled. He's back doing it again this year, I believe, and don't be surprised if he's taking on pitching.
