Pulaski Blue Jays issue

Those pesky Pulaski Blue Jays have raised their ugly head again. The North American Baseball Alliance is using the CubbyFan23/haveband roster set and I am the Commissioner. I just received a message from my Pittsburgh Pirates owner stating that when he signs free agents to minor league contracts, the players get assigned to the Pulaski Blue Jays of the Appalachian League. Not only do the Pulaski Blue Jays not seem to exist on this roster, but I don't even have an Appalachian League.

Can somebody take a peak at this. The league file can be downloaded from the website. Below is a list of players he found in Pulaski:

Monday, March 12th, 2007
Signed free agent CF J. Phillips to a minor league contract.
Signed free agent RF O. Gibson to a minor league contract.
Signed free agent CF D. Whittier to a minor league contract.
Signed free agent SS C. Moore to a minor league contract.
Signed free agent 2B I. Paredes to a minor league contract.
Monday, April 2nd, 2007
Signed free agent RF C. Guthrie to a minor league contract.
Signed free agent C A. Andrews to a minor league contract.
Tuesday, April 10th, 2007
Signed free agent C J. Hutcherson to a minor league contract.
Signed free agent SP H. Icaza to a minor league contract.
Tuesday, April 17th, 2007
Signed free agent SS D. Newkirk to a minor league contract.

I just downloaded the latest roster update. I think Eric Byrnes from the D-Backs has been left off.

Eric Byrnes and Shawn Chacon both seem to missing from the roster.

I noticed this a couple days ago and it brought to mind something else. When importing Byrnes and Chacon, I noticed you could import a player and all of his stats and then there is an option to retire the player. Would it be possible to import guys like Hank Aaron, retire them and use this to create an accurate Hall of Fame and all-time leaders list?

I have a question.

I just downloaded the rosters and they're great. Version 2.5.

However, I changed the team name of teams like the Yankees from New York (A) to New York (AL) and the Cubs from Chicago (N) to Chicago (NL). Unfortunately, that got rid of every logo and made it so that instead of the team pictures coming up for the players on those teams fake, generic pictures came up. Any way to fix this?

Use Larry Anderson's AULogoPro & AUPhoto2007, available from his website at www.planetootp.com. Make sure you get the 2007 versions, not the older ones.

How do you import players? I checked the setup menu, all I could find was importing full rosters.

Go to the free agents list, the option should be there if you are in Commissioner mode.

I'm using this roster pack and none of the big free agents in the offseason are being signed, any options to change? All the top free agents are signing with the Japanese league

Thanks!!!!

Anyone? Isn't this important? My league is patiently waiting and I'm not sure what to tell the commish. We just don't want to start only to realize there are problems down the road because of this.

You ever think that you might get your answer faster Mike if you just started testing it out yourself? rather than trying to get others to do it...

For the park factors:

There appear to be two copies of each ML stadium. If you go through each team and change their stadium to the first copy that is listed. That will return everything to the way it should be.

For example: Camden Yards and the Orioles

You want to change their stadium from the 2nd one (red circled) to the first one (green circled).

Hope this helps, Mike.

It's not my roster file and I figured others would know more about it than me. Plus I figured it is an issue worth discussing before I try and attempt testing a league file I no longer have exclusive access to.

Good luck finishing your roster, looking forward to it!

For solo play,

I'm not sure if Cubby has already set things in the game setup options to what will/should work best with this file...but if not what are you guys using for:

Player options (aging/dev speeds, talent change randomness)
AI Player evaluation options
Trading options
# of draft rounds
Traditional and/or sabermetrics creation modifiers
League total modifiers

I'm curious to here what is working/not working for you. I'm about to start a solo league but want to ensure I have things set up the best way. Thanks!

In order to help stop youngsters from taking over too quickly, I have aging and development set to .500, I believe Cubby's default is .750. With trading set to Very Hard I found it impossible to complete any realistic trades so I'm going to try Hard for my next league. I initially used a 30 round draft but I prefer smaller drafts so I'm going to give 25 a try. Everything else I've kept the same and things seem to be fine.

I haven't had any problems with major free agents not signing, if anything my problem has been with too many guys signing extensions during the season.

Weird, I just went an offseason where the biggest contract signed before spring training was $500k, and Ryan Howard after a monster season with the phillies somehow has a 1 year 40k contract with a japanese club

How deep are you into your league? If you're a couple of years in it's possible that all of your teams have expended their budgets on extensions and previous free agent signings. Check and see where all of the teams are as far their budgets go.
