Or...maybe...Toby Hall's injury is kind of serious!

Apparently, he messed up his arm diving for a ground ball while playing first base towards the end of a blowout. So now it looks like the backup catcher will either be rookie Gustavo Molina or Wiki Gonzalez. The article also mentions Javy Lopez, who was just released by the Rockies.

Any of whom are preferable to the return of Sandy Alomar Jr.

Ugh. I was really excited about Hall signing with us, so it sucks to lose him.

How's Molina's offensive numbers looked in the minors?

And re: Danks, I think he'll be interesting to watch.

Let's just say he's lauded for his defense!

Career minor league numbers: .237/.349/.652 (AVG/SLG/OPS), with a whole 30 at-bats at AAA!

Personally, I'd go with Wiki, since he has at least shown the ability to hit major league pitching somewhat kinda sorta.

Therefore, it will be Gustavo Molina! We can play OPS limbo!

On a related note, Toby Hall has opted to undergo rehab instead of surgery for his torn labrum, and he could theoretically be back in action by May...or maybe not, depending on how the rehab goes.

Brian Anderson, BTW, will start the season in the bigs...rumors had been swirling that he'd wind up in Charlotte, but, well, he won't. Not yet, anyways.

Molina would have been in the Show ages ago were that his real SLG%.

Unfortunately, that's his OPS.

BA/OBP/OPS isn't a normal line. You'll probably want to point out what that last item is, if you're knowingly presenting the data that way.

Edit: Weirder, just checked his career line at Baseball Cube, and it's actually BA/SLG/OPS.

I have edited the above post, for the sake of clarity.

Yeah, about 40,000 people or so, none of whom are me.

So...Aardsma & Sisco make the cut, Floyd and Logan get sent down to Charlotte.

Remember when Gavin Floyd had the inside track to be the #5 starter? Yeah, me too.

So...

SP: Buehrle, Contreras, Garland, Vazquez, Danks
MR: Aardsma, MacDougal, Thornton, Masset, Sisco
CL: Jenks

C: Pierzynski, Molina
IF: Konerko, Iguchi, Uribe, Crede, Cintron, Ozuna
OF: Dye, Erstad, Podsednik, Anderson, Mackowiak
DH: Thome

Let the games begin, I guess. I dunno, this season doesn't really seem like it's ready to start yet. Maybe it's because I didn't nearly have the excited buzz this off-season as I had last year.

At least Boone didn't make the team.

Yeah, I wasn't looking foward to part two of the Boone Logan story, at least not yet. I think he's going to be a good reliever, but he was rushed along last year, and needs another year in the minors to get ready.

I'm also glad Floyd got sent down, too. He just doesn't seem to have what it takes. Here's hoping that Gio Gonzalez is worth it when he's ready.

Hey, here's a joke for you!

What's the difference between Gavin Floyd and Mark Prior?

$3.2 million!

What an ugly Opening Day game.

We're on our third pitcher already by the 5th inning.

I should have known things weren't going to go well when my Art Appreciation prof had me stay 30 seconds after just because I asked him if we could just get our tests back (he'll hand them back Wednesday) and then leave cuz it's Opening Day.

He said "...You're a White Sox fan. I'm a Cubs fan. You have to stay 30 seconds after now."

Oh well, here's to hoping the Padres (my fave NL team and second fave team overall) can somewhat salvage the day.

Yeah, today has been pretty awful.

At least Steve Stone is filling in for Ed Farmer on the radio, so it sounds better.

And in case you were wondering why, Farmer's daughter was in a car accident yesterday, and Farmio went to California to be with her. He's expected to get back into the booth and ramble aimlessly in time for Wednesday, which is good, since it's Holy Week, and I need him to remind me of that sort of thing.

Well, this almost slipped past me:

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...tnered=rss_cws

The Sox inked Matt Thornton to a 3-year, $3.25 million contract extension (with club options for 2010 and 2011), and Pablo Ozuna to a 1-year, $1.25 million extension that also includes a club option for 2009.

Specifics are in the article.

I'm happy with both of these, both of these guys are worth the money.
