Andy Brodell is "deceptively fast"

Brodell is a wide receiver who is 6'3" and 200 pounds. He was last seen outrunning Thorpe Award-winning cornerback Aaron Ross and the rest of the Texas Longhorns in the open field...repeatedly. He's built like a gazelle--actually, more like Randy Moss. There's nothing deceptive about Randy Moss' speed--he looks like a runner. What is it about Brodell that makes the ESPN announcer decide his speed is "deceptive?"

If someone can figure it out, please let me know. Thanks.

Oooo...oooo I know, I know.

I bet Michael Irvin has his own suspicions why he's so fast though.

Moss was called deceptively fast a lot too. It is mainly because it looks so effortless that they seem to be not moving as fast.

"

So were 2 of the 3 fastest OSU players of all time, Robert Smith and Ted Ginn Jr., long striders.

I'm not gonna lie though, him being white definitely had something to do with it.

Also, Aaron Ross is the worst player to ever be nominated for a college football award let alone win one. I've seen him get owned so many times this year it's not even funny.

I've heard "deceptively fast" used as a joke for white guys.

But is he a scrappy, heady player and a good locker room influence?

He's not a real athletic guy, but he's fundamentally sound. Has good hands and runs great routes.

He might not be the most skilled guy on the field, but he doesn't know the meaning of the word quit and he gives 110% every time out there.

Basically, if you put pads and a helmet on David Eckstein, you'd have this guy.

I read a column once that Iowa always has that "Inexplicably Fast White Guy" or some such term. Tim Dwight and Kevin Kasper are some of the fastest guys ever to play in the NFL. Dallas Clark is obviously a freak with WR speed as a 260 pound TE. There have been some others.

Anyway, I don't think Brodell is the next Timmy D. Brodell is like nine inches taller but probably not quite as ridiculously fast, and definitely not as quick. And Brodell can't stay healthy. Plus I don't think you'll see Brodell (or that many WR's anywhere) do this:
