I have a solo league based on that expansion premise, actually.

From my personal experience, I can remember as a kid being perturbed at local fans whenever the Montreal Canadians came to town to play the Jets. There always seemed to be more of them in the stands for those games cheering them on.
But of course, the Canadians are/were considered hockey royalty and there is a large French Canadian population here. Plus the Jets were only an upstart club compared to them.

The very first game that the Canadians played here after the Jets joined the NHL was dubbed 'Tuxedo Night'. People showed up wearing tuxedos just to watch a hockey game. That's how hallowed Les Canadiens were viewed, at least back then.

I don't know of ANY Browns fan that rooted for the Ravens in any capacity, even to this day. I suppose in situations like Montreal where fans barely showed up for games it might be different. But when your fan base sells out game after game, year after year, and that team is moved purely for money, how could you cheer on that team once it moved?

on a side note, man i wished they let the ravens keep orange and brown - god i hate those colors - had to suffer through the same puke colors at Bowling Green for 4 years too

I remember seeing your Jets come to town with Bobby Hull on board. I believe that we had Gordie and Pie McKenzie at the time. The WHA looked like an old timers league for a few years there in the seventies.

Yeah, especially when Bobby wasn't wearing his hairpiece!

I suppose this would be one perk of having favorite teams that play home games in cities other than my own. Wouldn't really change anything for them.

If the Bulls moved, I'd probably follow them a little bit as long as the few guys I really like are on the team. Once they moved on, I'm sure I would, too. This is especially true if the team were replaced.

I couldn't care less if the A's moved. I've already moved away from them and follow them from afar. It wouldn't matter if they moved to Antarctica (as long as MLB.tv still carried their games ).

I'm a huge Sonics fan, but if they move to Oklahoma City, screw them. I've already got my backup team (the Suns) lined up.

I would still be a diehard Cubs fan. Unless they moved to Jacksonville. Then I would curse them forever.

I'd take the opportunity to become a Devil Rays fan. I really like rooting for the underdog and Boston used to be great for that (the Patriots were most laughable team in football and the Red Sox were totally cursed).

I couldn't follow the twins if they left. My rationale is a bit of a catch-22 though. I couldn't be a fan of a team not called the Twins, but no other place really fits with the name, so I couldn't follow them even if they stayed the Twins.

Im a colts fan and im old enough to remember them packing up and moving to indy. I didnt really give it any thought about them moving there. Only thing i here about it is from the diehard N.F.L. fans who say that Johnny Unitas and Bert Jones etc.. played for the BALTIMORE COLTS not the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

It takes a lot of effort for me to remain a Giants fan with their boneheaded moves, so if they actually left and I couldn't watch their games on TV I would almost definitely become an A's fan.

I don't know what I might do in the future, but I will say that I was once a huge basketball fan. That was even before the Grizzlies came to Vancouver (I was a Sonics fan). Then once they left my interest in the sport nose-dived. I can't say it's all due to them leaving as I think the attitude from a lot of the players and the whole basketball rap thing contributed to the turn-off, but if they hadn't left I imagine I'd be more of a fan than I am now. I'll still watch the odd Raptors game and a playoffs game here and there, but that's about it.

Hopefully the Jays will never leave Canada. I couldn't imagine if they did. I guess I'd become a Mariners fan again.

Former Houston Oiler fan since 1979. When they moved I lost interest in the NFL ... Houston Texans ? Tennesee Titans ? No thanks.

I said I would stick with the team in the poll, but it would depend on which team it was and how dedicated a fan I was. If the Dodgers moved, I'd stick with them. If the Angels moved, I'd gradually change allegiance more than likely. If the Lakers moved, I'd stay with them. If the Clippers moved, well, I never have been a Clippers fan though I like to see them do well, so I would stop rooting for them immediately.

The one team that did move was the Rams. With them, I stayed a Rams fan for a while because everytime I'd see the uniforms I would root for them. It didn't matter that the city had changed. But since I'm not a big NFL fan, my allegiance gradually changed (over 10 years or so) until I found a new California team to root for. Actually I just adopted all California NFL teams and root for them to do well, but I'm not a dedicated fan of any particular one.

It depends on the circumstances.

I would shoot the bastard that moved one of my teams and then I would rob a bank and buy that team and move it back.

I only follow two pro teams regularly - The Orioles and Redskins. The Orioles much more fervently.

If the O's left I think I'd quit on them. There's no way I'd become a Nats fan, so I'd probably start following the new Southern Maryland Atlantic League franchise to get my baseball fix. I'm pretty sure I'd give up on MLB altogether and become a more devoted soccer fan.

If the Redskins left I'd just completely stop watching the NFL. I like Virginia Tech football better anyway, and colleges never move.
