Malkin to Make NHL Debut Wednesday Night
For all you hockey loving fans, from Russia with Love Part 2 will be making his NHL debut at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night against the Devils. After the big fiasco to get him to the US, he got injured in his first pre-season game when a teammate lost an edge and ran into him. With his shoulder apparently healed and ready to go, he will be making his debut tomorrow tonight, and I will be there to take it all in. I was at the Pens home opener last year when Crosby scored his first NHL goal, and hope to be able to see Malkin's as well.

He's still wearing a shoulder support, so it'll be interesting to see how he responds to some solid checks.
Hopefully he'll be fine and will start racking up some points. He's in my pool

Scored his first NHL goal last night and I was there to witness it. The crowd really gave him a great welcome and pretty much went nuts when he scored. Now when I'm 80 I can ramble on about how I got to see Crosby and Malkin's first NHL goal. Overall, he looked pretty good out on the ice. Really did a decent job in his own end as well. He tried to make quite a few spectacular plays and really left some defenseman flat-footed on some of his dekes. Unfortunately, right after he'd deke someone out, he'd lose control of the puck. He's going to be a fun one to watch.

Are there any Japanese players in hockey? Because she'll probably ask them to be interned.

Paul Kariya - Japanese-Canadian (Half-Japanese) = Bona fide NHL star who once had (still has some) potential of making the hall of fame
David Tanabe - Japanese-American (Half-Japanese) = Good top 4 offensive defenseman with powerplay abilities Jamie Storr - Japanese-Canadian (Half-Japanese) = Past 7th overall pick Steve Kariya - Japanese-Canadian (Half-Japanese) = Paul's little brother Raymond Sawada - Japanese-Canadian (Half-Japanese) = 2nd round pick by Dallas in 2003 draft Ryan Kuwabara - Japanese-Canadian (Half-Japanese) = 2nd round pick by Montreal in 1990 draft Devin Setoguchi - Japanese-Canadian (Half-Japanese) = 1st round 8th overall pick in this year's draft |

1 goal in each of his 6 games.
He's decent. |

I haven't managed to catch a Pens game yet. Does he hit like Ovechkin? Two hard-hitting skilled Russian forwards in the league at the same time would be a nice change.

Not really a physical player. More like Lemieux where as Ovechkin is more similar to what Lindros was early in his career. Insanely skilled though. |

Malkin just netted the game winner in OT, 2 goals in the game, 7 goals in 6 games. First player in 89 years to score a goal in each of his first 6 games.
