Ahh yes 2 of the most sporadic and inconsistent teams in baseball duking it out. Should be interesting to see which teams show up.

The Mets were incredibly consistent until September. I never like relying on turning the switch back on, but hopefully the LA series is proof they've done that. Pujols is scary good, but hopefully they can relatively contain him and make it through.

Inclined to agree, though I'm concerned if the Mets fall behind in the series early...relying on Trachsel and Oliver Perez to bring you back in a series is hard to ponder.

Floyd is apparently out for the series, so we'll see what roster move the Mets have to make.

I'm not impressed with the current state of either pitching staff so I'm going with the team that has the MUCH better offense.

I want the Mets to win.

Frankly, the Cardinals disinterest me pretty much from top to bottom, sans Pujols. The Mets really aren't much better, but I'm interested to see Reyes/Wright in the Series. And as much as it'd be cool to see the Mets and not the Yankees in the Series, I'm not sure I'll be able to tolerate the media's hyping of that.

Wow, the last time the Mets were the only NY team in the playoffs must have been 1988, right?

Well, here's hoping the offense and bullpen continue to compensate for the lack of starting pitching. And here's hoping Glavine continues to be like he was in the NLDS.

What would you rather they hype?

The Mets and the Cardinals.

I don't think any attention needs to be given to the Yankees because "the Mets are the lone New York representative!" It should be about the two teams in the series.

Both these teams have injury probs. Cliffy is allegedly day to day but I bet he doesn't see much action in this series. Rolen's shoulder is ailing and he may not be much of a factor. Carpenter will only get two starts. The rest of the Cards staff is made to order for the Mets. That being said, I like the Met's chances but anything can happen.

My apologies, I misunderstood your original post. I concur with this completely.

Go Mets!

So I've been wondering. How is it fair that the NLCS starts a day later than the ALCS? The AL has a home game AND an extra day of rest to start the series (assuming they both go the same # of games)?

Look at the first five hitters for the teams and tell me who you think is better

Mets
Jose Reyes, 194 hits 64 Steals
Paul LoDuca, .318 BA
Carlos Beltran, 41 HR 116 RBI
Carlos Delgado, 38 HR 115 RBI
David Wright, .311 BA 26 HR 116 RBI
Cards
David Eckstein, .292 BA
Preston Wilson/Chris Duncan, 17 HR 72 RBI/ 22 HR 43 RBI
Pujols, .331 BA 49 HR 137 RBI
Edmonds, 19 HR 70 RBI
Encarnacion, 19 HR 79 RBI

Even when healthy the mets lineup is better than than the cards

BTW SPs for wednesday Weaver and Glavine
advantage: Glavine

Game 1 is big...you need to win a Glavine/Weaver matchup if you're the Mets.

Sickening how much of the media attention here in NY remains focused on the Yankees. They're done. BYE! Not the story.

Though I guarantee Steinbrenner will draw out the aftermath of their demise as long as he can to try and keep the back pages from the Mets.

It won't work

Everyone in baseball completely discounted the Cardinals in this last series.

How about we let them play the games?

The Mets won the season series 4-2....hardly dominating.
