Fan Interest - Change with trades?

Is fan interest rating effected by offseason trades...or just free agent signings?

Searched but did not find anything specifically for this.

From what I've experienced, it changes through any kind of transaction where a player is added or subtracted from your organization. FA, waivers, trades all count.

Depends on a players popularity, but any transaction that moves a player off/on to a team can affect fan interest. Very popular guys being traded can see a significant drop, same as acquiring a popular player can lead to a significant increase.

I recently traded a 6/6 guy and my fan interest dropped 10 points.

quick related question. What about extending a player's contract. Can that have effect on fan interest? If I have a guy with 5 local popularity and re-sign him, you'd think it would effect the fans positively, but does it?

Only in the sense that your fan interest won't drop like it would if he would have left the team at the end of the year.

I've never seen fan interest increase with the re-signing of a popular player.

This fan interest thing is odd for me -- I am Seattle in a sim league I starter with 70 fan interest after i rough started i ditched it for the future -- I traded everybody with any kind of fan interest (Johjima, Sexson, Beltre, Ibanez, Ichrio, Moyer, Guardado, Mateo, Soriano, Hernandez) the only guys i picked up with fan interest were Zimmerman who I immediately dealt and Jeff Fassero who has no national popularity but 5 local, I kept him in my roster for that sole purpose his 4 somethin era is pretty solid, but throughout all of this my interest rose to 73, is Fassero that big of a crowd pleaser

Ok does his 5 local popularity really raise my fan interest 3 points despite losing all those popular players
