I too like the scouting model. It is much more sophisticated than in earlier versions. I look forward to seeing how well it does over the course of an entire season.
Interfaces take a lot of getting used to, but gradually I am learning to live inside their logic. that always happens with something as complex as this. The moddability looks very good, too. |

What I liked was the plug for the Heinsohn-Duff brewski during the play by play

It took me an hour or two to get situated where I could figure out what I was doing. Now that I have I've got to say I love the scouting system especially while doing the amateur draft. It makes the draft more of a crapshoot than it was in the past which is the way it ought to be.

The sheer depth is amazing. Having other leagues in the world is great. Now, if we can only get a decent World Cup or Champions League tournament option.

Adding leagues and such around the world...
So far impressed by the Ai's handling of scouting.. I've hid a few big time gems among the lesser INT leagues.. One of the AI teams usually scoops them up after a couple seasons.. |

First download yesterday via dial up took an eternity....got home from work only to find file was corrupted. Downloaded again last night and got things to work so I've only just browsed around a bit. So far, I think the game is going to be everything I'd hoped for. What really gave me a thrill was stumbling across the ways we can set up the AI to manage a team,,,depending on the time of the game, how far ahead or behind you are, etc. Just fantastic. Can't wait to dig in and really learn how everything works.
Thanks, Markus and everyone involved. |

Equivalencies and coefficients. This is one of the best things the game has ever done. And I can't believe how in-depth the financial settings actually are. This is wonderful for historical simmers. I love that I can start a league in 1870 and the players can make $100 a year playing to crowds of 50. Seeing Walter Johnson make $25 million a year just always spoiled the historical feel just a little bit.

O
And the new injury system A young prospect breaks his leg or something.. His injury proness rises and his injury proness for his legs greatly increases.. So he could be plaqued by leg injuries for his whole career.. Really spiffy |

I love the worldwide aspect of the game. That's the #1 thing for me, hands down. It'll provide TONS of replayability.

I like almost everything
The thing I like most so far is probably the thing people like least in other threads ... the scouting system.
I like that it took me five or six hours to familiarize myself enough with my players to even consider leading them into a game. And even then the other team was comprised of almost complete strangers. Previous versions seemed to make owners slaves to the ratings and made them too easy. Not the case here, at least not yet. But I'm already tired of the brewery bit. |

The things I like most about the game is how much more user friendly it is in regards to historical leagues. Before it was a pain in the ass for things like trying to sim multiple seasons quickly and having a detailed history in Cato.
With this version I can fly through seasons and the Cato-like info is in the history right away for my viewing pleasure. I'm having a ton of fun fast simming my 1901 league and being able to see how all my favorite players from that era are doing career wise and compare them to others without having to wait for hours for Cato to run. I've been able to start in 1901 and get to 1933 in one night because of how fast and easy this version is to use for historical leagues. It's also nice because it automatically adjusts the league settings year-to-year and you get realistic numbers for the most part (not including 1901 which seems to be giving lots of people trouble). So overall, I love what was down with the historical aspect of the game. It's pretty much 100x better than previous versions though there could be some tweaks to make it even better. |

The speed of the sim is much faster than previous versions ; draft compensation; incredible stats everywhere; the vastness of the baseball universe that you can create; much improved PbP.

I am getting lost with some of the details, and a host of tiny problems. But looking at the big picture, and knowing that I haven't unleashed the game's potential, I would have to say that OOTPB is remarkably stable. No crashes at all since original boot-up early this morning, no Alt-Tab crashes, just a very smooth running game that I don't yet understand.
