Slowww OOTP (and freezing)

I re-installed OOTP6 and 6.5 recently and when I had it installed before I had the same setup. Only difference is a larger monitor. When I start it up, first off if it's about 3/4 of the screen in a window instead of full screen like it used to be.. but they may be because of the resolution. Anyway, when I click on a team to go into the team or try to go to pitching staff or ANYTHING it takes about 30 seconds. IF it loads at all. Sometimes it'll freeze and I can go back to it and it's just locked up like anything else locks up.. where you see what you minimized "captured" into the OOTP program. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is but it's really bad

Adjust some of the menu settings w/i the game setup, in addition it maybe that IF you have gone to a larger monitor and higher screen resolution w/o improving the CPU and video that it is just going to take longer.

i had the same problem. I turned off the direct3D in the config. The game doesnt look as good but it much more responsive.
