New to Game

Hello. I just purchased OOTP6. It looks to be a good game.
I am new to the world of text based games.
There seems to be one glaring problem with ootp6. The background of the game (blue balllplayers with some red and white) makes it almost impossible to read the text. Is it just me? It is so obvious. What good is a text based game if you can't read the text?
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to change the background to something plain so I can more easily read the text.
If not, then it appears that I have wasted money here.
I am astounded that a game could be marketed with this obvious a flaw.
Again, I am new to this, so perhaps there is something I am missing here.

1. Navigate to your OOTP directory.

2. Run "Game Configuration.exe"

3. Toggle Direct 3D off.
