Reaching Potential...
Pretty simple question...
Is a player less likely to reach his talent level if he is in the majors and not the minors? The coaching system if turned off and he is already a high quality player, but still has about 20 ratings points (1-100 scale) to increase. If it varies by age let me, anything will be appreciated. thanks

Early development (Blue Stars) is more likely in the minor while Gold Star development (after 25yo) is better in the show. However, some some players will never reach their talent level.

Ill give a more exact example... if I put this player in the majors with his ratings, will he be less likely to reach his full potential?

![]() A guy at his already high level of performance is going to benefit more from getting some MLB service than from toiling in the minors. He may or may not reach his potential, but his best shot of doing so is getting some at-bats in the bigs. |

Just so long as a player doesn't get overmatched by the competition - which that guy shouldn't have to worry about - then he'll be fine in the majors and allow him to develop.
However, there's one little caveat to this: some players simply don't reach their potentials regardless of what you do with them, while others actually exceed them. Let's hope you've got the latter.

By the player card, I'm assuming : he was just drafted in a preseason draft - or signed as a created FA - also preseason.
Along that line of thought ... While I think he could be a productive major leaguer - I think I'd put him in AAA. He's only 18, and I think some pitches out of high school would help. Mostly, however - I'd teach him to play CF & RF - shouldn't take him that long to learn .. and the versatility could come in handy. Another line of thought - a bit shady, but something to think about nonetheless ... He's 18 & signed for 4 million for 3 years. If you could afford to keep him in the minors for the length of the contract - he'd come into the pros as a 22 y/o superstar with a minimum contract for 3 years and arby for 3 more. Would end up saving you alot of money in the long run IMO. |

From my experience, if a blue star guy is good enough to play in the majors every day, you should bring him up. If he isn't, you should give him more time in the minors. That's if he has good potential. Once he turns to gold stars, though, you might as well bring him up.
