6.11 All Star bug

I've got a league that I let build up 10 years of history (1950-59) before taking over a team in 1960. During free agency, I signed Allan Franklin to a contract, and in 1959 he had played in the National League. Signing him to Louisville brought him over to the American League.

So after playing every inning of every game to get to the break, I went to the All Star to see what players from my team made the squad. To my delight, Allan Franklin made it. To my chagrin, he made the National squad. To my further amazement, I see that Marc Hoehne, from Chicago in the American league is on the National squad. Hoehne also shares that he was in the National League the season before getting traded.

Both share the trait of having made the NL All Stars in 1959.

I also now see that Lawrence Pohlman on the American side is, in 1960, playing for a National League team. He made the American All Stars in 1959.

Has anyone else seen this? If so, can we please get this fixed?

Further craziness just found. I noticed this because when looking at the news, there was a story about Ricardo Vega getting injured for the whole season. From his player card:

Quote:
Injured on 7/8/1960 with a Torn Rotator Cuff Muscle, out for full season...
Guess who is on the All Star team, available to pitch? Ricardo Vega.

Using 2-8 scale, more craziness:

Selected at 2nd base was Jon Williams, range of 6 at 2nd, range of 7 at 3rd. He played almost all his games at 2nd.

Selected at 3rd base was Juan Cook, range of 3 at 2nd, range of 5 at 3rd. He has played almost all his games at 3rd.

The AI decided to switch the two, put Williams at 3rd, and Cook at 2nd. In a way, that's understandable, but not realistic at all.

At least the All Star game did not end up in a tie!

I have a minor complaint, Sandy K. is the new Cy Young in my 57' Career replay, but in 1964, he is unhittable. 16-0 in 16 starts. But, on June 21st, he is injured. 10 weeks. The box score for that day show nothing happening. He pitched a 3 hit shutout. But, he is injured. I assume the injury happened after the game, or was detected after the game. That part I can accept. (What a man, pitched the last two innings with a fractured elbow).

My quirk is that he was not selected to the all-star team, ending his streak. I know if a batter (in real life) is selected to the game and is injured, he is replaced, but still gets his 'all star status'.

Am I nitpicking here?

Be curious how Boston fares without their ace for the next 2 months. They have an 8 game lead now. Also, since Sandy led league in Whip, ERA, K's and ERA the past 5 or 6 years, will the streak end. How will he fare after the injury.

Update at 8. www.larrypc.com

Wow, that's just ridiculous. Especially the injured player being able to play in the All-Star game.

You know what - I will never complain again that a patch isn't coming out fast enough. I would rather have the beta-testers really bang the beasties out of it for two or three weeks and find problems like this, the closer issues, all the online league problems, etc. I was really excited when 6.11 was coming out because I thought that FINALLY, after owning OOTP6 for 8 monthhs or so, I'd be able to start a career league with the peace of mind that all transaction problems were fixed and everything should go smoothly so that I could really get into it. Now I start hearing about things like this and I guess I'll have to hold off and keep playing my career league in OOTP5.

hefalumps, for a while (until about one week ago) I was where you were and was seriously considering (having read for a while of the bugs, etc. in ootp 6) staying with playing my seasons in ootp 5 for a while longer...[until the 'peace of mind' patch comes around]...

However, I did decide to just go ahead and give ootp 6 a try for a while (after I made certain to back up and put on disk a copy of my ootp 5 season files in case I decided to go back to it instead).
And, though there are still bugs out there I still HIGHLY reccommend the way that OOTP 6 plays compared to OOTP 5.
Even with the risk of running into a bug or two (and, so far, I've only come accross one bug and, frankly, I'm not worried about that bug 'wrecking' my whole season or anything...just a minor annoyance really) I would, without reservation or qualification, recommend taking the leap to OOTP 6.
The game engine, the roster rules, the smoothness of play, the better AI, etc. all bring the game to another level....
It did take me a couple of days to get used to OOTP 6, but once I did...wow..definitely improved from ootp 5 (and I thought ootp 5 was pretty darned good! )

Anyway, I just wanted to pass that opinion along and encourage you to just grab a mosquito net (back things up) and move on in to the ootp 6 jungle...IMO, it is very much worth the risk of 'bug-bites'.

We should take note that so far I think I'm the only one to notice and report this, which could mean I have the unfortunate distinction of having some bad glitch in the computer or league file that's causing this. That's why I asked if anyone else has seen this. I suspect that many of us just use the game so players get the league abbreviation in their stats, but that if we aren't watching closely, we wouldn't notice that players are playing for the wrong teams.

More funky stuff. Eventually today, I decided to delete the All Star game from the schedule and just proceed with the idea that for some reason the game had been cancelled. Then when looking at my closer's player card, I saw it said he had been selected to the NL squad, where previously he had not and there had been a couple of questionable reliever picks.

So I looked at the news log, and the players selected looked to be all in their proper leagues. This has me baffled.

I'm grasping here perhaps, but did the teams in question get realigned at any point during your league history?

No, there were no re-alignments or anything like that. Maybe I just hallucinated it all, but I don't think so. There was something screwy going on with that game and the picks for the teams.

I should note that at one point I thought to use Pierre's utility to fix the selections and the game, used it to look at things, but then decided to not bother and closed it out. I then went into OOTP6 and deledted the game from the schedule because the city of Tucson was being ravaged by a 150 degree heatwave and the game was cancelled for that reason.

It was then later I discovered that the picks had become good.

I guess I'll see what happens in 1961, but that might be some time before I get to it. This is a league where I intend to manage every inning of every game.
