FTP in OOTP5 works but not in OOTP6?

I have v5 and v6 on one PC. My FTP program WS_FTP connects to my website and so does the FTP client in OOTP5. It does not in OOTP6 ... I've done some searching and I'm not sure if there's a bug but it just doesn't work.

The error I get is: Server name or address could not be resolved

Any help is appreciated

Do you have a firewall on your computer that's blocking OOTP6 from using FTP?

I haven't had any troubles using all those programs you listed on my home computer.

Doubt it's the firewall as v5 and WS_FTP work and not v6.

Thanks though!

It was just a thought. I know some firewalls work by having the user specify which programs are allowed to use various internet protocols, so I thought maybe it was possible you had previously set up 5 and WS to be able to bypass the firewall, and you had overlooked doing that for 6.

All I can say is that as far as I know, version 6 is probably using the same code block as version 5 used.

That would of been my thought as well. But I have been helping many folks and have been seeing many messages on this forum lately with folks who are having troubles with FTP in v6. I think the FTP in v6 did somehow change and got a little more flaky than it was in the past.

Interesting.

I did think of a workaround for our threadstarter though. He could use V6 to generate the online reports to a specified directory, for example c:\myleague and then in OOTP5 just start up a league, then go into its Online Setup, set the directory as c:\myleague but not use it to generate any reports. So he generates the reports in 6, then opens up 5, and uploads the directory contents to his webserver.

Not to ask the obvious, but.....
Did you make sure you have the right name of the server in the settings on the online league page? You know, the place where you enter servername, username, and password? Is there a typo?

Just trying to give a few more thoughts. I haven't tried the in-game ftp, it takes too long. I zip up my files and ftp them with an ftp client, then unzip them on the destination. Much faster.
