Scoring error - wrong pitcher gets the loss
I've linked to the box score. Just highlight the black part to see the text.
The pitcher who got the loss came in and faced two batters. He walked one guy to load the bases with 1 out in the 10th. The next hitter laid down a squeeze bunt and San Francisco won. The loss should go to Little (who put the eventual winning run on first) and not Villar (who gave up the squeeze bunt). Is this a known issue? http://jd44.8m.com/box643.html |

I notice that he also gave up a hit. When did the hit come in the inning?

maybe the bunt ended up being a hit, because he also didn't retire a batter, as assumed by the 'squeeze' bunt.

The hit had to have been the bunt hit that ended the game. I wish I could remember the exact sequence of events that led up to it, but I wasn't expecting it to matter.
I believe Villar came in and hit Knoll with a pitch, walked Figueredo, and then Spurlin dropped down the bunt. Either way, I've never seen a guy get the loss without giving up a run. |
