Something I noticed about Contracts...

Firstly, I am trying to resign a player (Jose Rojas). I offered 7 mil for 6 years, he disagrees and says he wants more years, so I offer 8 mil for 7 years, then he says he wants less years. Every time I toggle in between the years he says more or less no matter what, and he is "slowly getting impatient". Is the solution offering more Cash?

And for regular Free agents, I noticed they usually never accept a contract over 1 year long if you sign them during the regular season.

Is this normal?
Thanks

The first part is something that shouldn't be happening...

Many players in all sports will only sign one year contracts during the season because they want to prove that they are worth more than that.

I agree that the above shouldn't happen... quick question though...

Did you ever try offering the same salary for the different years? It's a stretch, but he could be thinking something like "If I'm only getting $7M, it better be for a long time, but if I'm getting $8M, it could be even more later on."

Yeeeeah... that ain't right.

Guess you have to assume that he really wants to leave without coming out and saying it...

How about this one:

Pitcher A is an elite pitcher. He "asks" for $8,250,000 for seven years. I offer $12.5 million for seven years. He doesn't like it. He won't even accept the offer. (FYI - Your offer isn't even close to what I'm looking for).

This makes no sense. Though he asks for $8.25m, it turns out that he won't even look at anything less than $20m a year for the same seven years.

That can't be right...
