Question on these two files......the career leader board only shows the total stats from the years I have simmed. I started in 1980 and kept the career stats for all the players imported for that year. I simmed through 1983. Willie McCovey is the career HR leader with 507 and retired to the HOF. In Catobase the career HR leader is Mike Schmidt with 109 and there isn't anyone in the HOF. Also, when I pull up McCoveys page it doesn't show his first year in the big leagues (1963). Anyway to fix these problems?

I may have found the answer to my question. I was looking through some of my html files and clicked on the help link on one of the leaderboards. It looks to me that cato has his own criteria for making a leader board, and the HOF, in the catobase; based on Bill James book. Is this true or am I way off? Either way, this is the first time I've used the utility and it's VERY IMPRESSIVE. Great add-on for an outstanding game!! I've been playing OOTP since version 1 and this is the best yet!!

I think there's an option to import career stats that happened before you started simming.

The only button I saw for pre-sim stats was the option to delete them. If there is a way to import them let me know. Thanks.

Years that were not simmed ("pre-sim" stats) are not used on the leaderboards. This is because this set of stats isn't as complete as the stats you get at the end of the season. For example, OBP can not be correctly calculated from the career (pre-sim) stats because HBP and SF files are not kept once the season is turned.
The pre-sim stats on player pages are there for information only and are not incorporated into any other part of the website. The exception that proves this rule is the HOF page, where a players totals include both his simmed and pre-sim stats. Players selected to the Hall of Fame must be entered manually. These are not automatically imported. Click Edit/Hall of Fame to add/remove players from the Hall. On a side note, this page suffers from a bug in one of the controls. If you select a player and no stats show up, toggle between the Batting and Pitching stats and they should appear. The missing first year problem is an issue with the career exporter program. For some reason, it doesn't output the first year into the file. I think CommishJoe said he was going to look into it. |
