Game won't launch
Getting an "error 126: the specific module could not be found."
The only thing I can think of that I've done since last playing OOTP was buying a game from a third-party vendor that sent it to me in a pre-loaded Steam account. So now I have two accounts. But the other games in the original account are launching normally. Other stuff like anti-virus programs, etc., is unchanged. |

I'm guessing that second Steam account messed up where things in the game point to. Just a guess. If a reinstall of OOTP doesn't work try deleting the configuration file so the game doesn't reinstall in the usual places but might instead go to wherever than thing you did moved stuff within steam. There are probably multiple threads where deleting the config file is discussed. Here's the first one that came up. Use the Search for posts and keywords to find others and see if it sounds like what is happening.

Thanks, I'll try uninstall-reinstall. I'm going to back up my save game folder to another drive first. I checked Windows Update for driver issues, I checked the file integrity in Steam, and those things don't seem to be the issue. Currently overwriting the backup of the folder I made when I moved to a better computer a few months ago. I see Lukas' tip about the paths file, too, and if this doesn't work I'll try that next.

Uninstall-reinstall seems to have done the trick. Thanks, Lansdowne.
