7th+, 8th+, 9th+: What does the "+" mean?

I could see that for relievers but what about defensive subs? why would it be 7+ an not just 7, for instance?

I assume just to clarify that it's "Any time in or after the 7th that we have a lead" and not just "If we have a lead specifically at the beginning of the 7th". So that if you get a go-ahead run in the top of the 8th, the AI still brings the sub in for the bottom of the 8th and doesn't think "Oh, I was only told to bring in subs if we have a lead in the 7th"

Yeah, I set my setup guys for 8+, meaning (or so I thought) they can be used to start the 8th inning or later. My “stopper” is usually set for 7+. And that seems to be how the game engine uses them.

Maybe an easier way to look at it would be if you wanted the RP to come into a clean inning or not.

If you use the +, then you probably want to look at the RP's inherited run scoring percentage, and or the pLI stat / Shut Down / Melt Down.

If your BP is suspect, then disregard the +, and get them in the game to start the inning rather than putting out a fire.

I am sure the answer is in the manual, in game help or tooltips!!!
or maybe they just don't say because they need to generate posts in online forums for engagment??

idk, usage options for closers are "8th or later" and "8th+ or later". By you answer, those would mean the same thing

Set-ups and Stoppers do not have the "+" in their usage roles

"8th or later" and "8th+ or later" are both options for closers. Both of these options imply that they could be used after the 8th has started because of the "or later".
