WHA Drafts

I am surprised I just noticed this

Started a game in the WHA in 1972 finished the season and the draft age for 1973 should be 20 but on July 1 it says the draft age has changed to 19 which should effect the next draft in 1974 instead it is making those changes for 1973 and the next year when it should be 19 it changes back to 20.

So essentially what ends up happening is WHA gets the1974 draft in 1973 so when the NHL is able to draft these players most are already signed to WHA teams.

In 1974 it becomes a random draft for the WHA and then most players that should be drafted in 1975 have already been drafted and signed by the NHL and the NHL gets a random draft.

This appears to mess up the 1976 draft also as guys like Brian Sutter Bernie Federko etc. are being drafted by the NHL in 1974 instead of 1976.

I know players can get drafted in the game earlier then real life but it seems like the NHL is getting at least 3 drafts in one in 1974 and obviously WHA is getting at least one draft early
