Want to move back to OOTP 22
For several reasons, I would like to move back to OOTP 22. I know that version is no longer for sale anywhere, but is there an "ethical" way to purchase the license from someone who already owns it? Or get it by using the trade function on Steam?

When you say you want to move back to OOTP 22 would imply you purchased it back then, so you should still have your license. Just download it again and enter your license and you are all set.

I purchased it through Steam and my key no longer works. The last version I purchased though the OOTP store itself was for v16.

If you purchased it in Steam it should still be in your library, and just need to install it. I still see the last 4 versions in my Steam account.

My Steam account itself was corrupted and I lost access to everything there. Not that I ever purchased much...I'm a semi-retired old fart and only play GM games. So I lost OOTP and a couple Front Office games.
It sounds like I am stuck. It's too bad OOTP stop selling previous versions. I'd gladly pay the full $39.99 to get a working v22 again. I've played this game since v1 in '99 and I had a ton of custom files that no longer work since the v23 release. I only do historical replays and fictional setups, so all the bells and whistles (Perfect Team, real international leagues, etc.) really hold no interest for me. I suppose the game has just moved on beyond me with their recent focus. |

A Steam account does not become 'corrupted' You simply download the software again https://store.steampowered.com/about/ You will need to sign in once it has installed. If you are having trouble with your user name and password, you can retrieve it. If you lost access to the e-mail that you used to set up Steam, that is a bit more of an issue. But one can be overcome. |

No problem, if there is anything more we can do to help, let us know.
Steam support will not be able to help you get a lost e-mail account back, but they may be able to set up your account under a new e-mail if you contact them and give them your circumstances. I have had good luck with their support in the past, and they are in business to sell games, so they will work with you to get your account set back up in hopes you will buy more games. |
