How do you back-up?
As a long time OOTP player, when I back-up it up I go through Documents>OOTP Developments>OOTP23 (my current league status) by sending it to a compressed file and save that to external media. From time to time I have run into issues with characters/accents above the letter of some names. I then go in and edit those names and proceed with the backup.
When I tried to do the same with FHM it was a nightmare. Many, many names have accents and I an not going to be able to edit that. Do you just do a save through the game and then copy that to external media? Is that the most efficient and useful way? Thanks |

Winrar or 7zip will let you save a compressed copy without the special character problem, that limitation is just with the Windows compression utility when you have English selected as the default language. Otherwise, yeah, you would just need to copy the save folder (but you don't really need to include the subfolders if you just want to back up the data.)
But FHM has an automatic backup feature that OOTP doesn't; when you save it'll retain the two previous save points in the rs_one and rs_two folders. If you run into a problem or want to return to an earlier point, using one of those may be an easier option than manually backing up (although you do have more precise control over the backup's timing if you do it manually.) |
