Request: 40 team, 20 games, 2 sub-leagues, 8 divisions, 5 teams each, inter-league

I need help with a league schedule

40 teams
2 conferences
4 divisions in each conference (8 total)
5 teams in each division
  • 8 division games against the other in their division 2x (4 home, 4 away)
  • 5 inter-conference (Division with 3rd home meet decided alphabetically)
  • 5 intra-conference (Division with 3 home inter-conferece meets will have 3 away intra-conference meets)
  • 2 with same place finishers in remaining intra-conference divisions

Welcome! Fun to see someone with 1 post over in this subforum.

This screams the recently ended NFL-style 16-game schedules but with an extra team in each division and thus the corresponding more games. Those two "5" blocks, I am assuming the idea is to play all five teams in the matchup division.

Would the idea be to have every team with one game per week, perhaps on Sunday? Starting when?

The same place thing would have to be handled manually. The game does some things to mix up division slots, but not based on previous year order of finish. You could get matchups between teams in the correct divisions, but you would have to adjust them to have the desired teams playing each other.

Not sure what you mean by the alphabetical factor, but I think it is again something the game will not be able to do. I assume though the point is to mix it up. Speaking of that...

I also assume the idea would be to have multiple versions that rotate through the alignments of divisions that match up against each other and the home/away splits. That is the tricky part, figuring out how to cycle through the variations and achieve all the balance.

The idea was off an old NFL-CFL merger I came across years ago with a little sprinkling of the NHL for divisional names. If this helps, here's the conferences and divisions

Eastern Conference (Atlantic, Metropolitan, Northeast and Southeast)
Western Conference (Central, Northwest, Pacific and Southwest)

The comments as would go with the whole set will follow below. I will attach one example here so you can review and note if you want any changes in format, like days of the games, start date, game time, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you are good with the format or can tell me what changes you want, then I can post the pack of 24.
