How to save (or backup) a save before reinstalling?

Ever since I downloaded and installed 23.7 Build 88 The game has not been running right at all. I have to use administration mode to open in up, it seems to glitch up and freeze when trying to do simple things like open a player's profile, and in-game it freezes terribly. Never had this issue with OOTP.

I've also never tried to backup a save before trying a reinstall.

Basically, I want to try to uninstall then reinstall and see if that fixes this and I don't wanna lose my current save. If somebody would take a few minutes to give me the correct instructions on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, is anyone else having trouble with this latest build (23.7.88)?

on main screen - under the FILE - drop down menu click back-ups
then click on back -up current game
you then need to find the folder where your league files are located. (to find that file - under game click on trouble shooting - and the 2nd large drop down is "Open Folder containing saved games" that will show you where your game files are at.
then you can go back to the main screen FILE - drop down for back up and follow the instructions - where you can enter the info of where your game files are located for back up.

Your saves, unless you have customized your game, will be in your documents folder on pc. Uninstalling and reinstalling shouldn't touch a thing. While that is true it still is a good thing to be sure by keeping your save safe.

You could simply copy the whole folder to another location on your drive.

You could move the whole folder to another location on your drive and move it back after the uninstall\reinstall.

If you're on mac I wouldn't have a clue where the files reside but the procedure should be the same, I think?

I assume you are using the "in-game" backup feature for your league and because of that you are wondering about it's safety? That is what I am getting reading between the lines of the OP.

Now if you're saying you never backup your league, well, that is concerning to say the least, and playing with fire.

FWIW I've never used the in-game backup. I zip the entire file with winzip (I know there are freeware versions of zip software

) using it's incremental routine to only add files that have changed. This makes running a backup as simple as clicking an icon on my desktop, and keeping my backups totally separate from OOTP proper. From there it is a simple upload to the cloud for another layer of security.

Another thing to consider is have you modded your game? Ballparks (real ads), jerseys, caps, pants, etc. may be overwritten. Best to copy those folders to another location just in case.
