I dunno why that has to be interpreted as homophobia. It's just funny (or at least slightly amusing, YMMV). If we had, for example, the AAGPBL in OOTP and the manager's name was Mary Manlove, it would be just as humorous. Or at least no more offensive to those who easily take offense.

This is just a silly coincidence. There is nothing homophobic about this.


My first thought about someone finding this joke disgusting would be that they are homophobic for being uncomfortable with men having oral sex. Obviously, that was not your ethos.




Oral sex is something all (able-bodied) people can have, which also makes me wonder how this could be specifically homophobic. If there was a stereotype that gay men are unusually into oral sex (say like the racist stereotype of black people loving certain foods), then I could see how it could be construed as homophobic.




I'm very progressive, but I just can't see what makes this joke wrong. Maybe that's my bad or maybe this is just benign.
