Are miss seasons according to history and use real historical transactions redundant?

Neither Miss Seasons According to History nor Retire According to History work if you enable historical transactions. By that, I mean that you can uncheck both of them - with the intention of players not retiring as they did in real life and not missing seasons as they did in real life (for military service, typically), and the game will ignore your selections and retire players according to history and have them miss seasons according to history.

Both of these used to work as you'd think they would, but several versions ago, OOTP took that away.

And the short answer is YES. Historical transactions will, for example, remove Ted Williams from the BoSox' roster just prior to the 1943 season, and then will put him back on their roster at the beginning of 1946. (Doesn't matter if you enable or disable Miss Seasons Accdg to History.)
